Does this fabric go with my wall color?

I'm looking for fabric to make valances for my kitchen/dinette area. My wall color is SW Svelte Sage, and I'm considering Mill Creek's Europa Carnelian fabric. The house is traditional/transitional. I love the svelte sage but am having a hard time finding fabric that complements it. Adjoining room, living room, is SW Practical Beige and LR furniture is beige, dark green, and a hint of burgundy. New kitchen cabinets are stained dark brown.

It seems too yellow toned for the cooler paint color.

It's up to you, but if you do go with it, it's really going to make the greenish areas pop.

Lorrie Kay, I was typing and missed yours. Do you have the filoli antique lace chip? It is very close to holmes cream and to blond wood. I could hardly tell the difference between Holmes and filoli on the chips. color charts lists both the valspar colors as excellent matches for blond wood. So I chose the filoli cream and in some lights it is just right, but in the room as a whole it is toooo yellow. I wonder if holmes cream would be enough different. My sister has a west BR painted in Churchill hotel wheat and it is really nice so that is why I tried it. This BR is west facing too. It tend to look a little green next to my fabric. So much of what I've tried is doing that, going a little green. This is a very WARM feeling fabric.

Thanks for the help guys. BM Camouflage was one of the greens I was considering. I would love a camel color too as long as its more warm than cool. I haven't bought the drapes yet... waiting for a sample fabric swatch to come in the mail. I like the idea of a "go with" color that doesn't have to match exactly. I was originally going to do the whole downstairs in the SW White Raisin then fell in love with this print so now I'm not sure if that will be too off. I don't have pics to post yet. Moving in at the end of the month. The only pics I do have are with the former owners decor and its totally different from my style so I'll wait until I get in there and take more pictures. Moving at the end of this month. Soooo excited!

It may read differently on various monitors, but I'm seeing a greenish tinge to part of the fabric design that I think complements the paint. It doesn't necessarily match it precisely, but I do think it works. Very pretty.

Cindy1961 -- I'm not sure if you mean "pop" as in the green in the fabric will look gaudy compared to the walls, or "pop" as in the wall color will accent the green areas in the fabric and tie it together.

I love the svelte sage on the walls, but am having a tough time finding the right fabric. Dianalo - the yellow tone and the more olive green in the fabric are the reasons for my hesitation.

I think the bigger question is whether the fabric will work in the room as a whole.

You are making a big color splash with that fabric. It's going to have a big impact on the room. Whether it works, depends on exactly where the fabric will be seen, how much of it will be seen, how much of the paint color is seen, etc. So I think you need to consider the entire room.

What about a black and white fabric? I used to have some pictures of some pretty ones. I'll have to see if I can find them.

The Garnet colorway may be a tighter color match since it is not quite as warm as the Carnelian. The pictures of this fabric look different on different sites so it is hard to tell online.

I totally agree with msrose on a black and white material. The fabric that you have put up just looks out of place and can overshadow the color.

on my monitor, the green wall color looks slightly grayish green where the fabric has so much gold in it- looks like they would clash abit, but very hard to tell unless you look at it in person...
even if there's a bit of tone that matches the wall color exactly in the fabric, you need to step back and look at the 2 together from a distance to see if they work...

I have Svelte Sage in my bathroom and it is darker than the example above. I think that fabric would look great with it. Can you order a sample of the fabric? I agree, fabric color can also be very decieving online compared to real life.

I have a similar color in my kitchen & various fabrics with similar tones. I think it could look fine. Since you have dark cabinets & a fairly dark neutral wall a little splash of color might be nice. How big is your window treatment? For a valance I think it could look great.
