FWIW, I'd just try to find the studs and attach your rod hardware where there is a stud. Then patch the plaster. The hangers might not end up perfectly symmetrical, but you wouldn't have any "mending braces" on your wall. Sometimes, it is hard to find a stud with plaster and lathe - and the studs in old houses aren't always spaced a uniform distance apart. One way to locate a stud is to measure from a known stud (or a corner) 16 inches to the center of the next stud (works on new walls). Or look at baseboards for nail holes - they may be attached to studs. Another way is to use a very small drill bit and drill a series of consecutive holes in a line, low on the wall, until you reach a stud - then try the 16 inch measuring technique to find the next one. Or drill a very small hole and poke a wire in and feel both directions for a stud. Of course, you have to go back and patch and paint the little holes!

Blondie!! I do remember. I offered to help you shop online for furniture or something right? Did you finally decide on something? If so what? Are you talking about the Grommet panels or the Back Tab panels? Do you have an IKEA by you? If not I think either can be ordered online. I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with the back tab style on a double rod with the sheers behind them on rings. Those are the panels with the texture. The other set (grommet) are cotton but don't have any texture to them. If I go that direction I want to hang the sheers in the middle, is that what you want to do? Both hang very nicely. I won't have mine up for a couple of weeks, but I have a pair of each sitting on my kitchen table. I can photo a close up of the fabric for you tomorrow. The Grommet drape is very similar to the Pottery Barn Cameron drapes but they're softer. Ikea has sets of all their drapes hanging and I thought they looked great, light and airy. Can't beat the price either, the back tabs are $29.99/pair and the Grommet panels are 19.99/pair. 57 inches wide, 93 inches long but the length is not formally hemmed that way they can be hemmed custom for any height. I like that. Hope that helps. LOL So what are you going to do with your sconces?

patty_cakes - I did think of making my own. Since I am using rings, I'd probably go with the iron pipe idea. However, I am think that after adding everything up, unless I couldn't get the length I needed (I was counting the finials into that measurement which will have to be short due to the wall corners. I would like as much curtain coverage between the window and corner wall.)that ready made would be cheaper. That is, if I can find a deal! Oh, funny that you mentioned "gold leaf." I was reading Southern Living in bed last night and a home had long gold panels hung from clips. The curtain rods were shiny brass, and I had a thought that perhaps antique brass would look good with my curtains. I had thought oil rubbed bronze, but that kind of clashes with my wood bedpost. Black is out, as is shiny brass. My ceiling fan is dark cherrywood, with an oil bronze look, but also has a medallion of bronze (antique brass)look. What do you think? rocky08 - I looked at Target, too. I'll check them out for rods, though. BTW - With the discount coupons and the tax incentive that JCPenny was running, I ended up getting the $34.99 curtain panel for $27 including tax! To compare, the 84" were advertised at $29.99, so the end result for that length would have been around $21. On the subject of two curtains...unless you mean to draw them back in both directions, which would expose the liner, (unless you used two of those as well, and left the whole business open), I would combine the two curtains in the traditional way...which means, you cut the second one in half, and sew the two halves to the two sides of the first one. Otherwise, you have either a seam or two side hems running down the middle of the whole business. That means undoing the top and bottom hems, at least far enough back to re-sew them in a continuous hem once the pieces are joined all the way along. Any good seamstress should understand that if you decided to have it done.
