Dining Room & Kitchen Paint Colors

I have to decide by tomorrow what my paint colors are going to be for our new house. I'm good on everything except the kitchen & dining room. My DR is open to the LR & foyer, divided by arches w/ columns. My LR & foyer are going to be SW Baguette, a deep gold/beige. My good friend who is a good decorator suggested painting my DR a dark green (white wainscotting on bottom) & painting the kitchen one shade lighter green. I'm having to use Farrell Calhoun colors & what I've picked out is called Bowling Green for the DR & Fern Gully for the kitchen. Take a look at the layout of my house & see if you think these colors "jive" or not. Also, should I paint that hallway by the utility room the same color as the kitchen?

Sounds lovely! I'm not familiar with Farrell Calhoun paints, so I went to their website to see if I could pull up the colors. No luck. The search function uses the numbers of the colors. Do you happen to have them?

I would paint the hallway to match the kitchen. :o)

FC's website isn't very user friendly :( The colors are 0437 & 0436.

Thanks for the pic of SW Baguette! I really like it. It looks a bit dark, but my LR has a lot of windows, so I'm hoping it'll lighten it a bit.

Sienna Clay in benjamin moore might be too orange for you but I just used it in a wine cellar with a slate floor. Benjamin moore has quite a few great colors in the area I think you're looking...

Thanks Karen for your comment, and we ended up following your advice! We're just about done with the kitchen, and here's what we went with: We'll be replacing the dining room table / chairs at some point down the road, and countertops (getting installed this week) will be a white & grey engineered stone. We like the blue!

@BethH- yes we have the hardwood throughout the house but ceramic tile plank in the kitchen. Thanks for the advice...you think it's ok to paint both kitchen and dining room the same color? or would you go a shade or 2 darker in dining (that was advice I was given, but I am happy to have same color in both rooms if it looks ok..)...Re: the cabinets: it's been an issue between my husband and I- I would love to paint the cabs, he only likes cabinets that "look like real wood" (even if it is hideous;) We don't have budget for new or refacing cabinets at this time...so Im stuck with it for now...will continue to push for painting them though :)

Hi There- My kitchen and dining room open to each other with a breakfast bar between. Each room has one window-One window in kitchen faces east, one window in dining faces west. There isn't a ton of daylight. Kitchen has (unfortunately) 90's style honey oak cabinets that I'm stuck with for now...Countertops are gray corian. I'm hoping for a warm gray that isn't too dark but not so light it looks dirty or washed out (which has happened with very light grays)...I'd like a paint color that helps to tone down the yellow-orangey oak color rather than make it pop....and I'd also like to avoid grays that have purple undertones. As mentioned the kitchen and dining room are connected- ideally I'd go a shade darker in the dining room but I am open to any and all suggestions... Thanks in advance!

Those colors are really pretty! On my monitor they look like they have a lot of grey in them. Do they look like that in person?

The pic of the Baguette is pretty close to what it looks like IRL and this room gets LOTS of light. We also used Camelback (den & foyer), Whole Wheat(master BR & a couple of baths), and Believable Buff (hallway & stairway). They are all from the same color strip. If you would like pics of any of those let me know. I'd be happy to post them for you. :o)

Sure! Here's camelback in the foyer with baguette in the background.

This is whole wheat. Please ignore the fan! We have different blades & shades on the way. :o)

This is believable buff going up the stairs.

Here's another view of camelback. The color is pretty tricky. This one was taken when it was overcast and it looks MUCH darker than it does when it's sunny outside. Hoping the room will brighten a bit when the bookcases are installed.
