A little too cold for my tastes, but it is pretty and sleek looking. I can never imagine how I would be able to keep shower doors clean. Do you squeegee them after ever shower?

Love the colors, fixtures and design except for the blue rocky/pebbly surfaces. Everything has a hard surface which makes the room seem a little angled or sharp and the steely gray makes it seem a little cold. A big fluffy rug would help. Toilet isn't shown- natural placement seems between sink/shower or tub/shower. I'd love to have a room like that with a few modifications!

My first question would be does it fit with the style and architecture of your home? I'd want to make sure it looked like it belongs in the rest of house.

I like most of it, but would not do the blue walls. I'd pull another tone from the pebble floor and let the floor be the blue in the room (other than a towel or 2).

I think that it looks very nice. My only change would be to use a 'visually lighter, airier' shelving unit.

I like the overall feel of the design and I do like the idea of the storage nooks over the tub but it seems bulky and to overpower the room. I agree about the pebbles it feels too busy. If the floor is a wood look tile I think doing the whole floor with that would make the bathroom less busy and more spa like. HTH

I like it except for the floor. I would do the wood floor only - maybe bamboo.

Not my taste at all, but if you like it, go for it. Are those real pebbles or pictures of pebbles on the floor? Is that yoga mat rolled up on the floor? I really think it odd, but again, not everyone likes the same thing and if this is what you like, you should get it.

I second what laurainlincoln wrote about the need to fit in with the style and architecture of the house.

I generally like sleek and modern, but that bathroom doesn't thrill me.

Except for the bathtub, which I like a lot, it isn't my cup of tea. Mostly, it's just a matter of liking different things.

There are a few things that I think might be worth considering if you haven't already.

Having 2 kinds of flooring makes the room look chopped up.

The pebbles strike me as something that will scream a particular time period. That's ok if you really love it and plan to stay in the house for several years, or can afford to redo the room if you tire of it.

Have you taken a pretend-shower in a floor model of the shower? Do you like where the seat is? Will you like showering in a space that is designed to feel so open?

I don't think the pebbles will be able to look like that. They'll be set in grout, won't they?

And I don't like those bulky boxy cubbies behind the tub at all - they look cheap and not the same style as the rest of the bath, and under them is wasted space, and a pain to clean.

Other than than, a nice bath.

They make photographic tiles of pebbles, or used to.

I think the footprint of that bathroom would have to be awfully large to fit all those elements in that arrangement.

I am sorry we cannot embrace this for you. If you like it, then go for it. For me I have to agree on the glass shower. HGTV seems to push this as "all the rage", but seriously how would you keep it clear/clean looking? I would remove the shelf put the lighter more practical one where the plant is. Why waste that space? Then the tub could be moved against the wall so there is more room to pass there. I want a throw rug on the floor, I am not a fan of shower mats too much work. Get the fluffy throw rug, make it part of the decor.

I don't see anything sleek, stylish or soothing about that bathroom -- and I like contemporary styling, which somehow because of the varying flooring, large glass-front shower and storage unit I'm thinking are the designer's version of either contemporary or eclectic. In that room, the "panels" of blue color paired with the lighter neutral wall color is jarring. Individually, one or two things in that bathroom could be the jumping point for a better bathroom look and feel, one I'd enjoy being in, but when I look at that photo, I get turned off.

Honestly, the design seems amateurish. It reminds me of the designs I saw when I was in design school.
1. The cabinet by the tub is awkward in height and bulky in scale. Remember, you have to dust that cabinet. I agree that it's a waste of space. It should be reworked.
2. The two flooring options visually break up the space and not in a good way.
3. The shower is an awkward shape and I think it would be much more sleek if it went to the top.
4. How have they addressed lighting in the rest of the rom?

Does this designer have any type of credentials or degree or years of experience?

Also as far as the pebbles/wood, pick one. The only place the pebbles might work with the wood is if they are in the shower.

I suspect that the OP is the designer and was putting this out there for comments.

I'm sorry but I don't like it. Perhaps it's just my personal preference but I like master bathrooms to be soothing. And this one isn't soothing but is rather busy. The two paint colors, the two flooring surfaces...rather three if you include the shower floor, the different metals on the shower and the mirror, etc. There's just a LOT going on.

My suggestion would be (if you're set on that shower) to go with ONE flooring surface and one paint color. It's less jarring. The shelving unit is unnecessarily busy. And I'm unsure why one is having to walk around the tub to get to the shelves. Why is the tub itself not on that wall so there's more room in the bathroom to walk?

To me, it seems too busy and cluttered and it could be much roomier without the tub jutting out in the middle of the room.

That shower stall looks expensive. I think for the same money or LESS you could build in a shower make it tile bring it all the way to the ceiling so you don't have that dust collector on top..get rid of the plastic bottom.

Not to mention that the curves of the shower are fighting the square geometry you created with the wall and floor.

IDK - I think with the bashing of the design, the OP may be totally turned off to this board by now. I really don't think it is that bad. I think with a paler more neutral wall color instead of the blue, it would be nice. It may not be my kind of look but I can appreciate what they were going for. I like how it is unique and think it actually is a little grand. Too many bathrooms and kitchens are interchangeable so I give bonus points for creativity.

Ok... been playing around with the pic. I think if the walls were a light gray and the shelf unit was similar to the wood floor, we might have a better look.
I am not great at photoshop (evidently, lol) so you have to imagine the wood shelf unit.

If you remove the last part of the picture address you will see that this photo is attached to an online virtual decorating service. Someone has either bought a virtual design for their bathroom or is the "designer" themselves.

I might have sounded harsh in my critique for the space because this sort of thing gives design professions a bad rap. Should this person have been a real client, they would have purchased a poorly designed space for their bathroom. It would be both expensive in it's execution and an expensive mistake they would have realized while standing in their tub attempting to dust the shelves off the bookcase.

I do give points for creativity and while that's good enough for a first year design student, it is not for a design professional selling to the general public. This person does not appear to have attended a school because there are mistakes that are present in the space planning itself. It appears to be items plucked into the space and then "cool" materials plucked onto them.

While we do want to encourage creativity and thinking out of the box, we do want to make sure we are being responsible. In my opinion, it is not a responsible designer that creates a major remodel for a bathroom for someone when one does not possess experience, education or a combination of both.
