Your inspiration desk is quite different than the drawing you posted of two L-shaped desks. I've been looking for home office furniture for quite some time and pretty much all of the desks similar to your inspiration photo also lack storage. If you want decorative legs, you probably aren't going to find them with file drawers. Do you have room for a separate credenza where you could store papers and files? FWIT, I pretty much rule out anything that would connect my workspace with my husbands. We already share an office, I don't want to share a desk, too (neither does he). I do like the look of those "shared" desks, though.

That's great you have some help. I was thinking about your office today because I am working on mine and we have a few similarities as far as size and furniture - except I don't have all the great closet space you have! I think once you have the additional furniture in there you can play with where the desk should be. The good thing is you can shuffle it around as much as you need to until you find a look that feels right. If you don't already have some, you should pick up some of those sliders that you place under furniture to help move it around - they make it really easy for one person to move things around to try various configurations. I have several sets and they have been invaluable! In some rooms, we lived with those darn sliders under our furniture for weeks as we tried, lived with, and then changed up where certain pieces of furniture went.

I love flip top desks since I work partially from home on a laptop. I like that I can close the lid and not see the computer. I need a desk like the one I’ve saved. The problem with the saved desk is that the drawers are too small - I need a bit more storage and they are too small for a folder or even a piece of copy paper. I’d love to stay under $1,000 and no cheap Sauder particle board crap!

The taped out grouping looks very lopsided to me. Is it the camera angle? Guests will sleep more securely and get better rest if the bed is situated where they can raise their head and look directly at the entry door. If everything can fit, I would move the bed where the ladder rack is, and put the desk where you now have the headboard. This will enable you to leave space for getting behind the bed to clean and to make it up. The longer length of wall between the door and the window wall will make it seem more roomy. You can then put your diplomas and shelf on that wall, with the shelf hung 5' above the floor. Place the ladder rack left of the window. Use inside mounted shades or blinds so your pretty window frame will show; your paint colors are great!
