You may want to try a glaze with a warm sienna.
An ocher would work, too.
Although I would need to see what the treatment looks like in order to give a more informed answer, so maybe you can post a picture of the wall?

You are right, a picture is needed. I have most of the furniture moved out:good time to take one!

The plan, as it stands now, is to repaint the bottom half of the wall (which is currently the deep raspberry color) to be a dark, muted blue green. The adjacent kitchen has aqua walls: right now it is jarring where those two colors meet. The floral wallpaper border is dated. I'm planning to cover it with a textured architectural border, like egg and dart, and install some form of molding on one or both sides (if I don't burn out first: there's a LOT of border).

The top half of the wall has a marble treatment. I�d like to tone down the pink base color hues, but I still like it. It was a lot of work, I don't want to repaint it to be a solid color. This is where a matte glaze might work to make it more salmon toned. I could also stipple or sponge on some other colors, like burnt sienna.

What I would suggest (and how I would personally approach it) is to go ahead and paint the walls your blue-green color.
The new wall color along with the different border is going to have a huge impact on the glaze and/or combination of glazes that you will need to use.
Basically, it looks very pink because of your pink walls.

I have finished painting the bottom half of the wall now. Now itâÂÂs the color contrast that is bothering me most: but of course, I have had no time yet to get used to this new blue green color.

In your opinion, is there much to be gained by glazing the top half of the wall? It would mean, probably, quite a few hours of added labor. I could sponge or stipple on some added color, but thatâÂÂs still labor intensive.

Besides that, I still have to paint, glaze, and hang the architectural border; which I have decided will be done to coordinate with the walnut furniture ( a light brown paint, and dark brown glaze).

I've been thinking about this one.

Let's see...you're planning on painting the border and glazing it w/a darker brown. Perhaps (and this is just me thinking out loud) you continue that brown glaze into your marble. That may be enough to unify the two areas.
My other thought (and I'm still thinking out loud) was to use a warm gray glaze above. It definitely looks less pink w/the new wall color. And, on my monitor, I do see some warm ochers poking through. Then again, an ochre may bring you to that slamon color you're looking for. So, you may just need a series of glazes (not just an all-over color). You will also loose some of the more intense whites, which you can always go back and tweak.
Maybe you can paint a small section of the border and put that up and post a pic. (?)
Also, when glazing, less is more. You can always add color, really hard to subtract. Ideally, you would do a sample board and do a step-down with the glazes. Do you have a sample board of the treatment?

Unfortunately, I donâÂÂt have a sample board of the treatment, to use for testing. It would make it so much easier. I do make them now.

IâÂÂm afraid I canâÂÂt imagine the warm gray glaze. I want to neutralize the pink a bit, but am having a hard time visualizing how adding gray tones would go with the warm wood colors. I thought of adding in some of the bottom color, but blue-green + pink equals some shade of purple (!)

If I remember correctly, adding the complementary color would tone down the intensity. Which for pink, would be a green with a touch of yellow, right?

There ARE a few touches of ochre: I added a bit a few years back when I hung some pictures with ochre toned mats. IâÂÂm concerned that if I use an overall ochre glaze, though, it will make the wall look âÂÂdirty.â IâÂÂm thinking now of adding some by pouncing with a dry sponge and a small amount of the diluted ochre color mixed with water. I could build it up gradually so as not to go too far all at once.

If you add the bottom color, you'll have a very strange tone (in my opinion). Or, at least you'll take it into a whole new direction.
I feel like your safest glazes may be the natural pigments like ocher and sienna. Since there is no sample board (darn it!) you're gonna have to take a leap of faith and go with your instincts.
With the grey, I was thinking of pushing the color back, but ignore that one. You're right, won't work.
I don't think the ocher will look dirty, it should (should) add warmth.
I think the way you mix your glaze and not so much the application is key. Brush, sponge, whatever, just build up slowly.
This is one of the tricky ones where you'll probably have an *aha* moment as you're mixing colors....keep us posted.

I have added two new colors to the upper portion, a yellow ochre and a burnt sienna. They were applied not as an overall glaze, but selectively. The yellow ochre was sponged over the portions I thought were the brightest pink. The burnt sienna was added in small streaks.

Is it enough, you think, to tie in the furniture colors and go better with the new blue green on the bottom half? Or is it still too pink?

I see way less pink. I like it. The border will be very important, and since it's architectural, will make the marble make sense. Can't wait to see how you do the border. Will you make it look like stone or carved wood?

Thanks! I will do samples first, but am planning to make it look more like wood. Like the carved molding I couln't afford!
