figured I would bring this post back to life since I am now in need of cleaning my faux wooden blinds lol! in response to the last persons post re: using Windex, do not use Windex wipes. not sure about the spray but i happen to have a pack of windex wipes next to me and it says not for use on any wood type surfaces. pledge makes good wipes for that but you would prob need a few packages if your blinds were reallyyy dirty. anyway i am going to try dawn soap with warm water since mine are filthy! i had a small fire me in my room last summer and the insurance company had someone come in to clean the walls, blinds Etc and only bc i had to take my bounds down to fix a broken tilt cord, i just now noticed how horribly they "cleaned" them. (see picture reference) so ill post the before pictures now and after pictures once im done. in the pics im attaching now show how bad the back side of the blinds were that dont face towards me vs the 3rdnpic which is what i usually have them set to..ugh! at least 8 only have 1 side to really scrub at vs dusting the other cleaner side lol!

I have 2" white wood blinds on all my windows-that would be 21 throughout the house(!). I had mine done by a local independent window company because some of the windows are so large I needed multiple blinds with a very particular configuration. I didn't trust myself to measure and install those. However, if your windows are simple one-blind affairs I would suggest ordering and installing yourself. As others have said it isn't hard to do. I also have wood blinds on french doors, and am replacing smaller ones with 2" wood. I got a recommendation from this forum to try ordering from justblinds.com, and they seem like a very good source. The price was the cheapest, the blinds came quickly and they look perfect. Haven't installed them yet but so far, so good. Check this site out, you may find you can get what you want cheaper than buying locally. Justblinds beat out my indie vendor, as well as several other local companies and Home Depot. Was this paneling added on top of existing wallboard? Can you just remove the paneling, patch and paint? If we’re talking the sheets of grooved paneling popular back in the ‘70’s, that stuff often has a glossy finish. It can be painted. Somehow “faux” whitewashing “faux” paneling just seems like a big project that isn’t going to add any style or value to your new home.

We did provincial and and thrilled with how it came out!!!!! It wasn't too dark but some of the wood stained just perfectly to tie in the beams. Working on painting the window trim white so that there is less of a wood look in the room. Overall so happy with the richness. Comments from above were so helpful and all considered. Once we saw each option on the floor the flooring guy really made the final choice.
