Help me finish formal living and dining rooms (on a budget)
Comments (13)@betsy Cain I tend to have a traditional/transitional style. They don’t have to be super formal rooms, as the rest of the house has a more relaxed feel, and of course the farmhouse style dining table isn’t “formal”. for now, I think the chaise needs to stay in this room. The only other place it could go is the also empty sun room and I don’t really think it fits there Any better. My husband actually likes the thing and enjoys laying on occasionally. Additionally I have no other furniture to put In its place! We moved into this house last fall and added about 1500-1800 sq ft of “growing space” so we knew we’d have to furnish slowly and with some hand me downs....See MoreHelp me finish my new Dining room decor!
Comments (35)loobab Our china is quite simple. They are white with a goldish platinum accents. I would pull it out and take a photo but god knows where those boxes are! Curtains I totally agree. I was going to go with something closer to the wall colours maybe a the cream side like the chairs. It may be hard to decide but I need to start ordering samples ASAP. My kitchen cabinets are a dark gunmetal blue. I love them! They bring in so much interest in the space and its so unexpected. The builder thought I was nuts going blue but once he saw the final product he absolutely loved it! I agree about the tile as well. People told me to go traditional but as you can see, Im not that kinda chick! lol...See Morehelp! splitting dining room into office / playroom
Comments (16)Not sure why pressure from other family who aren't living in your house would make you rethink what you want in a house if it wasn't on your radar to begin with. I agree with patricia about having living spaces on your main level be living spaces, and having a separate living space without a TV so adults can separate from kids but still be on the same level. I would make the office space your TV room (den). With doors. Kids toys could be in there too. Regarding the office, what does your upstairs look like? How many bedrooms do you have? If you have 4, you can easily convert one bedroom into an office. Most people respond to that by saying "but I NEED a guest room!" If that's your response, think about how often you have overnight guests, and whether you want to dedicate 144 square feet of your house to guests who will be with you a handful of nights each year (when you think about your house as a cost/SF, think about how much money you're spending for that dedicated space, and how many nights in a hotel it would take to recoup). I am planning on converting our guest room into a play room/guest room, with a murphy bed in the closet for the handful of times we have overnight guests each year. You could do the same with a guest room/office combo. Murphy bed or pull out couch or day bed for overnight guests....See MorePlease help me finish dining room
Comments (9)@aehgn1 Thank you for your post; I am receiving my furniture a month earlier because of you. Our furniture was supposed to arrive at the beginning of November, and we got a call this week saying it wouldn't be here till the middle of December, and we move in this weekend. I called shipping (not our sales associate) 80% was sitting in their warehouse, so they shipped it to CA, and we will get a call tomorrow or Monday and get it in time for Thanksgiving. If your furniture is delayed, my recommendation is to scroll to the bottom of the Arhaus web page and call the shipping department....See MoreRelated Professionals
