Help me finish dining room please!
Comments (32)Update over 1.5 years later!!! The only change so far is the 2 new canvases from Pier One. We still have not used the room at all since not finished. The goal is to get it done by the end of this year or at least have a plan by then. At minimum, need new chandelier, chairs reupholstered, custom curtains/drapes, and a server/buffet to replace that table with the photos (photos only temporarily there). Unsure what kind to get....as you can see the wood of the table and hutch is dark with little black spots. Will only order from a place where we can see the piece .... such as Ethan Allen, Arhaus, etc or may do something custom from one of the numerous furniture stores in Ohio Amish country...just unsure what to get and whether to try to match the existing pieces or not. We may also end up painting the walls and really would love to ditch those ugly chairs but want to keep the peace with my mother lol! Suggestions? Thanks!...See MoreHelp with converting dining room to office space
Comments (16)I have an open concept living area so my office space is open to the more formal living area. I recently remodeled and what I did was incorporate as much storage as possible so that things could be hidden away. My printer is installed inside a lower cabinet that rolls out so that it is hidden. This also stores paper. There is an outlet in this cabinet to plug in the printer. I don't need huge amounts of file storage so at this point almost everything is digital but I have one smallish file cabinet to hold some hanging files. My desk counter area runs the width of the wall and also does a turner at the corner. This is where I have my computer. I have upper cabinets which have sliding decorative doors and these hold a multitude of sins - they also complement the design choices of my living room in terms of color and style as they are Art Decoish in style. I have a little covered compartment by my computer which holds my external hard drives which I use for backup and additional storage of digital files. My designer had suggested using a fabric on the wood between the counter/desk and the upper cabinets which would be a decorative way of pinning stuff. My office needs really aren't into pinning paper as I try to get rid of as much paper as possible but this would be an attractive option for people who do pin stuff. I purchased a very stylish (and comfortable) office chair. It is upholstered non-traditionally in teal blue faux ostrich :-). Again this complements design elements from the living room. For me the key was balancing functionality and aesthetics and maximizing hidden storage....See MoreHelp finish dining room please
Comments (8)I think the furniture is great, very vintage. have you considered painting the tall cabinet in a color, i think lacquering it would be awesome. maybe navy. i would paint the walls a warm white. a fun blue upholstery fabric for the seats that brings in a bit of the blue from the kitchen area would look great. those three things plus a new more updated chandelier to me will help update the room and yet keep a vintage feel. heres what navy blue lacquer can look like. and a few ideas for a chandelier....See MorePlease help me finish dining room
Comments (9)@aehgn1 Thank you for your post; I am receiving my furniture a month earlier because of you. Our furniture was supposed to arrive at the beginning of November, and we got a call this week saying it wouldn't be here till the middle of December, and we move in this weekend. I called shipping (not our sales associate) 80% was sitting in their warehouse, so they shipped it to CA, and we will get a call tomorrow or Monday and get it in time for Thanksgiving. If your furniture is delayed, my recommendation is to scroll to the bottom of the Arhaus web page and call the shipping department....See Morekellyp123
