Decorating no-no to do antique end tables in a transitional FR?

Valerie Noronha

My family room is transitional which we like and works well with a family. I'm a bit at a loss what to do with end tables now that we rearranged the furniture. I feel I only have space for a small round end table, but most of the new ones I see are not in that shape. I just found a set of to-die-for antique end tables that are 18" round. I don't need very large ones to hold reading lamps since the recessed lighting works very well--this is mostly for decor reasons.

I went ahead and mocked it up with an existing table I had of that size which is in my LR. THe ones I am considering are taller so I propped it up on cereal boxes.

I've offered $175 for the pair and lady wants me to call her up.

Should I proceed?

Note coffee table, bookcase are being phased out. Most new furniture is medium stained cherry/maple though am considering adding a painted (cream or black) bookcase (TBD).
