Which Should I Choose Knob or Pull Handle?

I am going to try and upload pics. I was able to fill one of the old holes (because the newer pulls used today didn't fit the spacing of my 1960 holes. After I filled one hole I realized I can just use a single knob and be done with it. No Re-drilling a second hole on each door.

However I don't want to choose that option just to avoid drilling one hole at this point. I mean this is a Ton of work so what's one more hole, yk?

What looks best?

I have narrowed the Pull Handle to this particular one. If I choose it - it will be this exact one. The Knob will be similar (if not this one) I can actually put a Larger Knob if that would look better.

Anyways .. what I am trying to decide now is KNOB or Handle?

What would you choose??

I think the knob looks great and complements your pretty white cabinets quite nicely.

I've been at work all day and just now looked at this thread, and I'm simply overwhelmed by the response and the gorgeous pictures. Thank you all for your kind generosity and willingness to help. Jackie, your roses are incredibly gorgeous, every one of them. In one picture I can see part of your garden in the background and that tells me everything. I see green, lush and beautiful. When I look outside I see a parched landscape where even the toughest vegetation is struggling to stay alive. When I tell you that Caldwell Pink did not do at all well here that will give you an idea of what I'm facing. White Pet still looks okay but has not bloomed since spring. My two Le Vesuve and Mutabilis are doing okay but are watered every day, like the rest of my garden. Mutabilis gets shade from the early afternoon and Le Vesuve from late afternoon which helps quite a bit. Susan, Ivor's Rose is available from Chamblee's under the name Flamenco and I really like it, but I'm afraid it will be bright red in my alkaline soil rather than the beautiful purplish red on HMF, which has happened to me with several other roses. I had two Mrs. Dudley Cross which did well before the drought but folded up after that, with endless mildew to boot. I love that rose and am really sad that I had to give it up. The flowers were so beautiful when at their best. Judith, I already have two plants of Mrs. B.R. Cant and it has been very healthy for me, although the flowers have crisped lately. Still, I consider it a very good rose for my garden. After due consideration, I've decided to choose Monsieur Tillier based on everyone's input about this rose. Kim's was the deciding vote because he understands intimately what my situation is, living in a similarly awful one himself. A water main burst today near my town and another one in San Diego, which is causing flooding and gigantic water loss when every drop of water is desperately needed here. The politicians who have allowed the infrastructure to collapse to this extent, where there is no money for vital repairs, all for their shortsighted and selfish political ends, without giving a darn about the people they are supposed to serve, have much to answer for. Cyn, not sure what you mean by "the second pull". I bailed on the Ashley Norton pulls for the cabinets. Only getting the Nortons for the Sub Zero refrigerator. The "Crescent" pull, from Top Knobs's "Nouveau II" collection and the rectangle knob from their "Mercer" collection will be going on the cabinet doors and drawers now. Fortunately, a friend is a major home builder in this area, so I was able to get a discount via his company, on all of it. Still, bailing on the Ashley Norton for the cabinet hardware saved me @ $1200. That stuff is gorgeous, but and it's worth the extra expense, IMO, if one has the money. But humble little me, dog sitter extraordinaire...nope :-(. Ty, OP. I'm my own GC! Lol. Easy enough. I'm not changing anything structurally; same footprint. Sub Zero will cause one side of the kitchen to be extended by three inches. Lucky there is room to do that! Not replacing the stove, micro, or dishwasher at this time. Only replacing the floor, cabs, sink, and counters and fridge, and I can't believe what THAT is costing! Yikes. Thank goodness for tiny kitchens!

I would go back to exactly what beuhl gave you as what she gave you is more efficient. Notice your latest plans still do not give you wide enough aisles. Your aisle between island and stove wall she has as 40". However that is not accurate since she has it 40" from cabinet to cabinet. Assuming a 1 1/2" countertop over hang on both sides, you're now down to a 37" aisle and that doesn't include the stove handles sticking out even further. The NKBA recommends a minimum of 42" (from counter to counter, not cabinet to cabinet) for a one person kitchen. So right there you've lost 5" of work space for one person. If two or more of you cook in the space you won't have any room. Your space between sink and island is even worse. After taking into account the countertops you're down to a 36" aisle. If you want the most efficient kitchen then you need the prep sink on the island. Below are both beuhl's plan and yours. Red indicates how we start. We take food out of the fridge and bring it to the sink to wash. From the sink we move it to our prep space to cut, dice, etc. That's indicated in green. Finally we move the food over to the stovetop to cook it. That's indicated in blue. Notice in beuhl's plan there is no crossing zones but in the plan without the prep sink, you're crossing the too narrow aisle to go from fridge to sink. You don't need 59 1/2" behind the seating, but you do need more space in your aisles.

With your backsplash, I would look at Taj Mahal quartzite. It is harder and imo more durable than quartz. Quartz has downsides and I prefer qranite or quartzite. Go look at actual slabs. You will probably need 2 slabs. Take a cabinet door with you plus any leftover backsplash if you have it. If you choose quartz, avoid wide veins. To hard to make look right at seams. Get that decision made first. Then lighting. Your countertop will infirm Metal on fixture decision.

Ooops, sorry - I see I spoke too soon! I love the handle! If you are replacing pulls on drawers as well, would it be possible to use the handles on the cabinets and knobs on the drawers, just to mix it up a bit?

I normally would say knob but I think the handle is nice. Honestly it's 50/50%- they both look good.

Auntjen.. yes! I was thinking that - Pulls on the doors and round knobs on the drawers. Just want to be sure first :)

aleighjc .. That's why I am having such a hard time deciding because the knob doesn't look bad and it would be easiest LOL

I think I like the handles best but wanted to check here first because my taste can get "out there" at times. I'm the one who was going to paint the cabinets robins egg blue. (Glad I checked here first LOL)

Oh yes I agree with auntjen, put the handle ones on the doors, and the knobs on the drawer fronts, it will look great with the 2 styles.

I like the pulls because your doors are so long and I think they will look nice there. There is no saying that you can't also use them on the drawers. If you wanted to do a stack of three or four drawers you could do knobs. It doesn't have to all be the same. I love the black and white, very nice. Whatever looks good to you is how it should be.

I too like them both, but I'd put the knobs on the doors and the pulls/handles (in your 3rd and 4th pictures) on the drawers. Similar to what I did....

Thank you LorrieKay. A few things have changed since then, less milk glass and more color, but this pix showed the most cabinets.

Just a small FYI. This is from my husband because I didn't notice it at first when I changed the knobs on my cabinets to stainless steel...you need to turn your knobs so the reflection goes the same direction on each one. (Like the ones on your lower bottom doors.) It makes for a much neater appearance. :)

I say the handles on drawers and knobs on the cabs. I think the handles will be too much side by side on the cabs, but one by itself on a drawer will look lovely.

I have three types: 6 in handles on the upper and big drawers, smaller 4 inch(same) handles on lower small drawers, and bird cage knobs on bottom cabinet doors. I love how they are all mixed up, but they came from the same line so they have the same feel, bottom line is it looks great if you dont use the same all the way around. If you decide on one, I like the pulls you picked. They look better on the upper cabinets.

I am not crazy about the very curvy handles with the very plain, straight doors. I would do the single knob on everything.
