I scored a 4. I'm 57, have worn glasses since first grade (I can't even hear without them), have a bad astigmatism and wear lined bi-focals. I am now vindicated when DH, friends and family tell me I'm too anal with regard to color. I'd like to see male results as I've heard male eyes are different (number of rods and cones? iirc) and they really don't see as many hues as women do.

That was fun! I scored a perfect zero! No wonder it takes me so long to pick a paint color. I'm always looking for the color in between the color chips. :) (For example the MONTHS it took me to find the palest white-blush pink.)

You guys are awesome! I never seem to see the underlying shades(?) in a hue. I got a 20. DH got a 12! Maybe I should be letting *him* pick paint colors out!

cambro, you gave me an idea...I'm going to try it with one eye and then the other, because I remember when they were bugging out yesterday, I'd shut one and see the colors better with that eye than I did with the other.

Those of you who had a high score try doing the test again in sunlight.

When I took the test the first time I was sitting at my desk in a bay window that lets in lots of mid-day sunlight and had no artificial light in the room.

I tried an experiment, and took it again in the dark last night, with no light except the TV in the background, and the errie glow of the sodium vapor, streetlamps coming through the window and only got a 4.

Yay! I got a 4! I can't believe it..I am usually bad at these things..if only picking paint colors was this easy!
Can you imagine how much trouble the BM/SW people must have had to put together the paint color wheels in pre-computer days? Ha, ha..

dilly dally, I took it late last night in front of the TV. There was a lot of squinting, but it was doable.

Hi flyleft, I finally got around to doing the test today, I got a 20, not bad, your eyes do feel kinda funny after you've finished the test, I guess it's from looking at all those colors. Thanks, it was fun to do.

I am looking at very old threads, but I'm glad because this was fun! I got a 3, which surprised me, as I don't think I have any color sense. I guess I can tell which colors are the same or close but not what actually goes well together when they're different.

A 16 for me (i'm 46).
Maybe I'm wrong, but I didn't think about underlying colors when I was rearranging them. I just saw light and dark. Which is why I still can't don't "see" the undertones of my house colors. My sister does--maybe she should take the test!

I also scored a 0. The colors just made sense in the orders I put them in right off the bat. I wonder which came first, fine tuned hue sensitivity, or paint chip obsession? It's a chicken or egg thing for sure.

scored 25. Tried to do it as quickly as possible (couple minutes) because it was making my eyes blurry. Now my eyes are tearing. fun test.

I couldn't even do it! lol. I have a new flat screen monitor and all the greens in the first row looked the same to me, like a bunch of green olives lined up!

I'm thinking, reading your response, oakley, that it might be really helpful for folks to post the make of their monitor, and whether or not they've color-calibrated it...mine's a Viewsonic 19" flat screen, a couple of years old by now, and I haven't color calibrated it. How about you?

I also got 4. I'm 67 and in need of cataract surgery on both eyes -- a factor? I don't know.

I do know that when colors don't match just right, I see it as a problem. And maybe that's why I find choosing paint colors so difficult, and I'm obsessing about colors in the new house.

Y'all, please consider posting your monitor info -- it could really be interesting, say, if we find that folks with a certain brand always did double digits, and folks with another certain brand always did under 5 or even 0 etc...it can't all be ability to perceive, there must be some machine-effect in there somewhere.
