Too much furniture? Too large?
Comments (0)Hi everyone! I am not good as judging the scale of furniture for the size of a room. I have been in my house for 2 years this month, and I am about to purchase the 3rd living room set. My living room is 15 x 18 (best usable space) which is open to the kitchen. I want to purchase Tommy Bahama style furniture which includes a large entertainment center. I have drawn a diagram in Microsoft excel, I will try to include in this post. What is your opinion, is this too much furniture, is the size of the furniture too large? How is the placement of the furniture? Thank you for your opinions!! Barb I hope you can view this, I have included a link to photo bucket where the picture is stored. However, it is a picture of my microsoft excel diagram screen. Comments (10)Well, in one of the bedrooms which does not have a bed yet, I have 2 black table desks, a black office chair and a glass table with 2 black leather chairs and a black lamp and a crystal lamp with a black shade and white drapes with a black border and a black rug with beige modern flowers. I have a mirrored cabinet and some chrome lamps as well. The art is all black, white and gray - mostly pencil drawings. I love the room. The new bed, when I get it, will be mostly off white but with a black bedskirt to echo the drapes' bottom border. So as long as you don't paint the walls black like Hilde did in Trading Spaces years ago, you should be fine....See MoreHow Much Painted Furniture To Stained Furniture
Comments (6)2-1 sounds good. Thanks! I typically try to work in odd numbers but was having a problem seeing the overall picture since I had so many pieces about. DH said he didn't care if I painted the bookcase. Thanks Franksmom! I'm hoping that the wall color won't be too dark for her tree mural. I don't want to go too dark on the leaves. That bureau looks totally different from when I bought it for $10 or $15 7yrs ago. It was burnt orange w/ big wooden knobs. I bought new glass knobs and glued on the 2 wooden decals. DH found small wheels at his shop and put those on for me to raise the height to a more comfortable changing table height for us. Jerseygirl - well you know the adult rocker needs to have the seat reupholstered and I've been going back and forth between cream or blue. Maybe a print w/ both colors? Her curtains are a natural muslin color w/ pom pom trim and her bedding is almost he same color as the wall w/ a brown toile print and a cream matelasse quilt. Soft pink sheets. Bumblebeez - that is an excellent point about focal points and I didn't want to take away from the bureau by adding too many painted pieces....See MorePainted furniture- how much is too much
Comments (11)Attached is a picture of the piece that I have which will be going in the room. It will be repainted so I am open to ideas! As far as a sideboard, I again am open to ideas. I would say my "style" is more casual and comfortable than formal. Thanks!!...See Morepalimpsest
