I sure do! I do a two story web over the front of my house. I make my poor husband drag out the ladder and we go to town. You can't use the .99 webs or it won't work. I use the webs that cost $5 or $6 from Walmart or Target. The bigger, the better. I just wrap a bit around a window sill or a corner or a front step and just pull, pull, pull. I leave a space around the door so there's room for the trick or treaters. I also put a giant light up pumpkin from Target in the 2nd story window on the shelf over my entry door.

My kids are 15 and 11. I know I'll still decorate when the younger one gets too big to trick or treat. I love Halloween because it's completely what you want to make of it. No expectations or pressure for fancy meals or presents or decorating or visiting relatives.

I don't like Halloween, never did. I have no reason. I did see this thing in a magazine and I have always wanted to try it. We have a long front porch without railing. The picture showed taking little pie pumpkins and carving out the words Happy Halloween. This is a lot of carving and you would need fourteen pumpkins but I always thought it was kinda cute. I guess you could change it for Happy Thanksgiving but that is even more pumpkins. Ooops I forgot we have Thanksgiving earlier here. You could also line the driveway or sidewalk. I may do this someday! Or maybe instead of pumpkins, you could use mason jars or jam jars and spray paint the stencil on and use tealights. I think I saw this in a Martha book using the words Merry Christmas.

Why not paint the letters (maybe glow in the dark paint outlined by a black paint pen?) on the pumpkins? If you have the space to store them afterward, you could use the foam pumpkins to avoid having to purchase fresh pumpkins every year, although I think you'd have to weight them or stick them down with something since they're lightweight - maybe glue them to a wood block or something.

We've got to decorate the house this year, although I don't usually decorate outside (too much work)... Halloween is a VERY BIG DEAL in our neighborhood for some reason, people go all out with decorating (even more so than for Christmas), and we got ALL kinds of friendly ribbing from the neighbors last year about how the "token Pagans" in the 'hood didn't decorate for one of the biggest holidays of our year. LOL (We'd only been living there for a month, we did well enough to remember to buy candy for Beggars Night and I need to get twice as much this year, we got mobbed!) I think we're probably going to take the rather more tasteful route of Samhain being the Last Harvest - cornstalks, pumpkins, scarecrow, etc. - instead of the tacky/gory stuff (and some things that I do find downright offensive, like the warty green-faced witch hanging from a noose I saw last year), although I'll likely incorporate a few bats, cats, ravens and suchlike that also do have symbolism in my religious practice but that non-Pagans associate with Halloween. We don't have any exterior outlets on the porch so no lights. I hate to spend the money but hey, at least I don't have to buy Christmas decorations on top of it... :-)

Deee, I feel the exact same way! :) Halloween to me is pure fun and imagination, it's always been my favorite holiday and always will be. The girls and I have a fantastic time thinking about and building their costumes. I'll be decorating the house and handing out candy long after my kids are grown and gone. I also agree about the no stress, no big meals to cook, etc part of it too! Just a lot of fun to be had :)

Similar to deee, I've got a large lighted web that hangs from the second story middle window just over the front door. Hanging with it is a huge black spider with purple eyes. White webbing stretches between each column and the middle window. Smaller dayglow webs with spiders hang on the column's facades. Black web with "Trick or Treat" and tiny spider hangs on the door. Lit Jack O' Lanterns on poles stand in the front flower beds in front of the columns. Small scarecrows on poles stand in the flowerbeds to the left and right of front door. Urns in front of sidelights hold real graduating pumpkins (3 in each) with fall leaf garlands (these are uncarved and last until after T-Day). It is the easiest, fun-est decorating I do all year!

We are kid-free, but I even dress up to hand out the goodies. I love Halloween!

20 years ago, we made "burying stones" as my then 5 yr old DS called headstones, DH cut them out of plywood put them on stakes, I painted them "RIP", Frank N. Stine with real bolts painted black coming out of the sides, Freddy with shadowy clawed hands painted on a headstone. And a couple of corny ones too. We set them back in the side of the yard in the shadows and away from the walk. We also had a tape of creepy moans and groans playing from an upstairs window.
Not too scary and we made about 5 headstones in total. The neighbors went nuts for our yard!
The requisite spider webs were all over our shrubbery, and 3 jackolanterns on the steps- a family one, and my DS and DD always drew a face and my DH would cut them out until they got old enough. We did this for about 20 years.
Last year we didnt do anything as the kids are not kids anymore and were away. We dressed up- Chipoltle Grill gives free food to those dressed in tin foil. Guess where I am going again this year!! OLE!

Unfortunately it usually rains around Halloween for us, so we rarely decorate the yard. I just put up pumpkins on the porch railing.

My son left behind the ultimate Halloween decoration, tho...he's got a life size sculpture of the Alien from the movie. It's made of rubber and VERY lifelike. We're tempted to have it sit behind the door, so when we open it, the Alien will be there. But I'm afraid it'd scare the little ones we enjoy so much.

Right now Alien lives in my laundry room. Freaks out visitors all the time.

I decorate my front porch each year for the fall season. My favorite parts are the big clothesline spiderweb between the porch railings and the wreath chandelier above the table (thanks Martha Stewart).

I can't find a good picture of it...but our favorite is this footed cauldron from Target. We put dry ice in it and let it fog up all night. The picture is my daughter stirring the bucket of margaritas in the pitcher (lol). We had lots of friends in our old neighborhood so TOT'ing was a very social thing for us!

I love Halloween, but I have never managed to buy a house in a neighborhood that gets trick-or-treaters -- I'm so bummed! We've always had older houses in the "city" and I think most "city" folks take their kids to the 'burbs to ransack there for candy.

We've now moved to the country, but I think the distance between houses makes TOT unlikely out here. Especially when you can't even see half the houses from the road. (sigh).

I think I'll see if DH wants to have a grown-up Halloween party. That will give me an excuse to do a little decorating.

dbfirewife, the pup is too precious. My goofy dog would think the straw guy is real and would be trying to pull all the stuffing out.

Oh, I'm just yearning and dreaming of decorating my new house for all of next year's holidays.
