How about a story. It takes up a little time and this one makes a "Jack-O-Lantern"right in with your theme. The Little Orange House (One of many versions!) A storytelling Activity Needed: Scissors and a large piece of orange paper Once upon a time a very small witch was walking in the woods. The cold wind was blowing the dry leaves all around her. The little witch was frantically searching for a house for the winter. She could not find one. Suddenly a piece of Orange paper, blown by the wind landed at her feet. She picked it up. The little witch looked closely at the paper and then she said, "I shall make myself a little house from this piece of orange paper." She folded the paper in half. Then she took her scissors (she always carried a pair in her pocket) and cut off the two corners to make a roof. (Cut the construction paper as the story indicates).I round these off. "This will do just fine," she said as she looked at her new house. "But I will need a door." With her scissors she cut a door. Since witches always wear pointed hats,she cut a special door. Cut a triangle shape with one end pointed up(near the bottom right of the paper) this is the door/mouth. The little witch walked through the door into the little orange house. It was very dark inside. She quickly hurried back out. "I will need to make a window to let in the light," said the little witch. She cut a window/eyes. (Cut a square shape in the top middle of the paper opposite end of the paper than the door. Cut through both sides of the paper.) Oh, it was a very fine looking house. Her very own little house with a roof, a door, and windows was all finished. But just as the little witch started to go inside for the winter, she saw a tiny ghost floating down the wind swept path. As the tiny ghost came to a stop near the little house, the little witch saw that she was crying. "Why are you crying?" asked the little witch. The tiny ghost stopped crying and answered, "It is cold and windy. It is getting dark. And I have no place to spend the winter." "You may spend the winter with me in my new house," said the kind little witch. "Oh, thank you, " the happy tiny ghost said as she peeked in through the window. "This is a very nice house." "First," said the witch,"I will need to make you a little door of your very own." She took her scissors again and began to cut. She cut a very tiny door. (Cut a half triangle on the folded edge of the paper between the big door and the window. Make the longer part of the triangle point up towards the window) The two happy new friends went inside. The tiny ghost went in the very little door, and the little witch went through her own special door. All winter long they lived happily together inside the little orange house. If you want to see inside their little orange house,just open your piece of paper and Surprise! The kids really love to see that the house is really a jack o' lantern.

Hi Pam, A little late for Halloween, but here is an easy game. It is a variation of drop the clothes pin in the bottle. You take Dum dum suckers, wrap a piece of kleenex over the top, tie just under sucker head with orange or black ribbon, use a marker to make "eyes" on your dum dum ghosts, then drop into a pumpkin or a witches cauldron. Another one is to tie marshmallows to strings, hang at appropriate heights. Then they have to eat the marshmallows off the strings with their hands behind their backs. Can also use donuts or apples too. Yet another. Give each child a piece of paper with the shape of a pumpkin drawn on it, magazine and a crayon. They must place the paper on the magazine, place magazine on their head and then draw a "face" on the jack o lantern while it is on their heads! Have fun, Kathy G in MI

oh for the lollipop board i would do a ghost board then make the lollipops ghosts....(use a templet like those wooden things you add lights to that ac moore sells)bean bags make spiders lizards and snake bags and then they have to toss them into the witches cauldron....(you know to make the make the magic potion...the rings i would do vampire theme and have to put the vampires on the stakes...other ideas: Mummy Wrap Divide guests into pairs Give each pair a roll of toilet paper. One person wraps the other with the paper, first one to empty their roll wins. Older kids and adults get two rolls, once the first person is wrapped they wrap their partner. Prizes to the first team who empty both rolls. Pumpkin Bowling - 3 small pumpkins, 30 empty 2 liter clear soda bottles, 1 can white spray paint, 1 permanent black marker, a bag of gravel or pebbles(placed in bottom of bottles) Ask friends and family to save empty, clean 2 liter soda bottles for your party. Spray paint the soda bottles white and draw eyes and mouths on the bottles once dried. Add about a cup of sand or pebbles in each bottle so they will stand without falling over. Pin The Wart on the Witch Similar to Pin the tail on the Donkey, instead of a tail use gum as the wart! Draw a witch's face on a piece of poster board. Blindfold each child give them a piece of gum to chew as his/her turn arrives, spin, point in the right direction.once child sticks gum use a marker to mark there initial on it... The closest piece of gum to the wart on the witches face wins. (yeah your gonna need some gloves to remove the gum lol) Witch Hunt - In Search of Halloween Candy An evil Witch has stolen the Halloween Candy! And now we need to find her and get the candy back. Good thing there are clues.. Gather a bunch of brooms (borrow from neighbors) and scatter them around the yard, with the handle pointing in the direction you want the children to go. (If you don't have brooms use something else) Start at the beginning of the broom path and search with flashlights for the next broom, and the next. At the end of the line have a big pot of candy waiting for the kids. For more fun buy one of those witches that look like they smacked into a tree and place the candy right under that spot well i hope this has given ya some ideas lol

Oooo...another Halloween party enthusiest! Enough to make me come out of lurkdom for awhile... Great theme! We have a themed Halloween party every year, themed costumes are required (I think it actually makes it easier for people, because they have an idea to start with). And no, our guests don't seem to have a problem with it, we just give helpful hints in our invitations, and we normally have next year's theme picked out ahead of time. This year we're doing a pirate theme...all of our guests were informed of that at last year's "Hollywood Academy of the Undead Awards" party. Our 2009 them is going to be a medieval theme - we get a little ahead of ourselves sometimes. ;-) Some great suggestions so far, and don't forget to start saving cardboard boxes to make pyramids with (a large one out on the lawn that you have to walk through to get to the front door would be very striking and mood-setting)! I guess it depends on what you prefer...my hubby likes "scary" better, so our decorations normally have some sort of gore factor to them. If you lean towards that, you need some clear jars for "canopic" (spelling?) jars...to hold the organs of the dead (in the pyramids). Otherwise opague jars labeled will work just as well. Heiroglyphs on the walls would be a nice touch, along with eyes watching from behind things (think glow in the dark paint). As for your costume, how about you going as a mummy! Tear up some old sheets, stain them with tea (and a little fake blood, if you like), and have your hubby wrap you up. Or "wrap" some old clothes to make them a "mummy suit", then just make yourself a head piece and booties to match. You could be one of Egypt's animal gods too...a bird, or a cat, something they worshipped. But don't let your size stop you from finding a great Isis costume or something - those flowing dresses make anyone look good, really. Sandals, a head piece and some jewelrey would finish it off. Food...I'd probably go with some organ molds & jello and/or cakes, but like I said, we do "gross". Our normal halloween fare is a "serve your own" chili bar, with all the fixings, lots of desserts (witches fingers, chocolate eyeball truffles, etc), and a full bar with a "signature" drink. Last year's was the martini (since we were all supposed to be TV or Movie stars or characters), this year we'll pick something to fit with our pirate theme (a rum-based drink). I normally have punch with dry ice in it to fog it up too. I'd do a search for "Egyptian Halloween" and see what pops up. Go through web sites and see what everyone has to offer for egyptian theme parties, and you'll be surprised at how many ideas you'll end up with (too many to pull off, no doubt). If you have a basement, perhaps you'd want to decorate that as if you were descending into a pyramid, with treasures and a large sarcophogus down there? We used fake torches to light our basement stairs for our goth party one year, so it was like descending into a vampire's lair... Just a few ideas - can't wait to see what you come up with! Fun theme! :-)
