Boop, same here! for some reason I've always wanted to live on the coast of Maine. I've never been there but it seems to be in my blood. Maybe because my parents are from VA and moved to OK after they married. I feel such a connection to that area. lol

I love it, and I'm one who doesn't usually gravitate towards overly-girly stuff. I think it's the color combinations that make me feel happy though. Kind of like those little pink and green mints that melt in your mouth. :-)

That doesn't even seem like it's Kirstie's style either. I mean, she doesn't come across that way on film and TV. Does anyone remember her reality series? So funny.

I agree with others when they say some of it is nice, but most isn't what I could live with.

Ha ha Jen, you got that right. I was trying to think of what feeling it gave me and kept thinking candy, but that didn't work. Yep those yummy little home made mints one gets at weddings and showers. Not something I could live in though. Too pale. I like more pigment in my colors.

i would live there in a heartbeat too, and i am definitely not a 'girly' type.
i don't like the valance in the kitchen at all or the tablecloth and chair covers in the kitchen...i would change those things immediately as well as one bedroom, but otherwise, i could live there! lol

Pretty. I wonder if she used it year-round? Being in that house could make me forget those cold, blustery Maine winters. It would feel like spring/summer all the time.

I think she did a great job with her decorating- it's lovely, but too girly for me, too.

What I really love is how she did just what she wanted to do, didn't follow the trends, etc. And I love the way the house looks on the outside and it's setting.

She's great- her personality seems more real than a lot of other celebs.

Thank you for posting this! Although I'm not a ruffle / frou-frou girl the colors and abundance of pattern do make me happy, plus pink is my serious numero uno (although my pink is Hot Pink!). I've always had a soft spot for Kirstie Alley, so that was double-fun. I've had a hankering for a New England beach holiday (we live in Boulder, CO) because this summer I read both "Maine" and "The Island" (about Tuckernuck Island off Nantucket), so looking at this house's setting really reinforced that dream!

In our local paper (The Denver Post) an editor wrote how one of her regrets was never having an Eastern seashore summer with her (now grown) children. And it made me really think: my sons are now 7 & 5. That kind of idyll ... I could envision it looking at Kirstie's house. Earlier this summer I even looked (online) at summer rental properties on Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket, and Martha's Vineyard has the excellent summer camp for people with disabilities (Jabberwocky), as my youngest has Penelope Syndrome (he is too young and I am too much a nervous nellie to let him participate in an overnight camp, though). My partner, who is Japanese, is salivating at the idea bc that part of "old" America is really appealing to him -- when we went to Colonial Williamsburg it was amazing watching his reaction!

My 7 year-old attends language immersion camp in Bemidji, MN, so then I spun of into researching a Leech Lake resort trip, but that's just not the same now is it? But there is that similar Americana about it, about summering on water.

I should totally ask here for suggestions as I've never been to MA or ME. But thank you so much, oakleyok, for sharing this link!

Pink's actually grown on me a bit, and I could see doing our bedroom maybe in a soft warm version (with cream?) if DH weren't such a spoiler. It'd be so nice at night.

I keep going back to look at her house. I could handle the 63 days of 100+ temps we had this summer living in that space.

I showed my DH the pictures and he loves her kitchen! Hmmmmm.....lol

So strange, they just showed her home on the View today. Yes, it is a stunning home. A bit over the top in design. It would be a great house to tour but as others have said it might have to be toned down a bit if you lived there. I'm from Ontario and will be taking a driving trip to New England in the fall including Maine. To those of you who live in that part of the country I envy you.

Saw it on The View too. Get rid of all the pink & green and frou frou and it would be a great space! The exterior reminds me of my BIL's place on the Kennebunk River in southern Maine.

I love it. I wouldn't want to live in it twelve months of the year, but I'd be quite happy spending a summer there. :)

It's nice when people are brave enough and free enough to decorate in a way that pleases them.

We just got back from a week in Maine. I love Maine in the summer. So beautiful. We stayed in a beautiful 5 bedroom, 5 bath farm house on the Back River. Just outside Boothbay Harbor. I would not be able to handle the winters in Maine. I can barely handle the winters here in NJ and I grew up here.

That house is definitely not for me. Way too over the top girly. I would just feel very uncomfortable in that house.

Natal, I never would have posted the link had it not had pink, green and white flowing freely through the house. That's the charm about it. She drew outside the lines for a change and it's not the same cookie cutter house that many of us have.

Pharoah, wallpaper will never go out of style. Some of the prettiest rooms are wallpapered, especially bedrooms and baths. I'm glad Kirstie isn't one to follow trends. Neither am I, which is why I like the house so much.

My bathroom is pink and green, and it's wallpapered in a tiny pink and green floral pattern. It's very calming, IMO.

Oakley, her decorating has nothing to do with the bones of the house. A new owner will turn it into something completely different.

I love the locale of the house also. After spending a summer living on Fire Island ( working as a biologist for the National Park Service) I am looking forward to planning a family vacation some time to the northern ( as opposed to the southern) shores. The only major change I'd have to make to Kirstie's house ;-) would be to strip all that godawful painted white wood back to it's original state. I think it would be a much better balance to all the upholstered furnishings.

This is funny. My DIL and I were looking online for artificial Christmas trees and found this really neat website. Up top it says Kirstie ordered a pink tree! Shocker. :)

Very sweet and sugary, too much frosting to my taste but it's done well for that genre. I get an edgy vibe from that actress so I was expecting an edgier decor.
So much for that theory.

She's selling it, so possibly she's had enough of all that sweetness.
It's a wonderful property so a redecoration job would have it looking so different.

I love it, especially if it could be used as a vacation house. It's cozy and inviting, not pretentious. I love seeing homes like this. It's not what I would necessarily do in my own home, but I'm still drawn to the style and feeling it evokes.

Mitch, Kirstie's had this home since her kids were little, and since she's lost weight and getting work again, I wonder if she's selling it to live in L.A. where the jobs are?

I think Kirstie's like me, one of those who likes to plop her feet on the coffee table, lol, but the flip side of us is we love feminine things but no one would ever know it with a one on one conversation. I'm very casual and still have a bit of tomboyishness (new word!) in me, but I love my girlie things & proudly display them!

But yeah, the house definitely needs some dark wood.
