I did that exactly, ellessebee. I have the 240V OTR Advantium mounted above the counter. I also have 15" wall cabinets so it fits and works like a charm. I don't think there are any differences in the cooking features between the wall oven and OTR models. The oven cavity is pretty big, because I can fit a half sheet. There are two considerations you need to keep in mind. 1. The OTR does need to vent, because it performs a cooling function after using the non-MW functions. I have mine blow out the front, above the door. In hindsight, I would have run some duct up and over to the adjacent rangehood. 2. The door needs and extra inch of clearance on the hinge side (left) to open. When the contractor first installed it, the whole unit was flush with the cabinet and looked awesome. He was so proud of himself, as was I. I went to use it later and couldn't open the door. It also blocked the exhaust in the front. He had to come back and reinstall it by tacking 2x4s (actually measured 1.5x3.5) to the back wall and then installing it. Now it all works beautifully, while taking a slight hit in the aesthetics. Another benefit to mounting the OTR model OTC is that the underside is heat and moisture resistant. So my coffee maker has a permanent home under there where I don't have to worry about the steam damaging the undersides of the cabinet. Oh, and the built in light of the OTR serves as task lighting for the area underneath. So I also saved money on lighting there. This post was edited by jscout on Mon, Jan 28, 13 at 13:26

Our 12 year old KitchenAid washer is again on the blink, so we are in the market for a replacement. The first place we checked was the February 2008 issue of Consumer Reports, which rates 20 front-loaders, 22 top-loaders, and 39 dryers. The LG's rated especially well. We also checked with our appliance repairman, a local independent who services almost all brands and who has done a great job for us for 12 years. He recommended that we "steer clear of LG." He said it is very difficult to get their parts since they are relatively new to the washer business and have not yet established a good service network in the US (they are Korean made machines). He also said that many of the customer service complaints you read about on the web are valid. He will not sign-up to be an authorized LG serviceman until they overcome their startup (for washers) difficulties. Here are a few other points he made: -- He bought a Whirlpool front-loader at Costco a couple of years ago and has been very satisfied with it. -- Although each maker comes out with new models with new technologies all the time, he generally prefers the Whirlpool line. -- Some of the top rated top-loaders do not have the typical center agitators. He said that those machines have a relatively new technology, but he has not encountered any reliability difficulties with them so far. He did say that, although they clean very well for most kinds of loads, they don't do quite as well as the agitator-type machines on extremely soiled loads; i.e., your kids love to play in the dirt and mud! Hi All, I finally heard back from Miele. They didn't really respond to my question re: vibration, so I'm assuming that the vibration on the washer I saw at the Miele Gallery is typical of a Miele unit. My email to them and their response is below: Sept. 9 email to Miele: Hi, I'm looking for a new washer and dryer and have narrowed it done to a few contenders, the Miele W1612 being one of them. I went to the Miele Gallery in Vancouver and had a demo of the model. The washing performance was excellent and I love that you're offering a free 10 year warranty. It's refreshing to see a company that's willing to stand behind their products! Before making a decision, I have few questions that I'm hoping you can respond to. 1. During the demo that I saw, the washer vibrated between about a quarter to a half an inch at the top of the machine when it was spinning at 1000 RPM. I would be installing it on a wood (main) floor of my 83 year old house, so I am concerned about vibration. In the Vancouver Miele Gallery, the washer and dryer were stacked, but a stacking kit wasn't used. So, I'm wondering if perhaps the unit wasn't installed as well as it could have been and that what was leading to the vibration. Alternatively, is between a quarter and a half inch vibration typical of Miele washers? 2. I noticed that the drain holes on the rubber bellows are about half an inch above the bottom of the bellows. It seems like water would pool there, without any way to drain. Is there a reason why the drain holes are not located at the bottom of the bellows and have you had complaints/issues with odours and mold? 3. Is there any plan to bring back a 240V washer? I was really hoping to get one, but there aren't any in Miele's current line up. Thank you in advance, Lisa Sept. 17 Response from Miele: Dear Lisa, Thank you for taking the time to write. There are things you can do to prevent the vibration in your appliances. The main thing you would need to look at in your case is if your floor can actually handle the weight and the vibration. Soft surfaces can vibrate more readily than hard surfaces such as concrete. Locate the washing machine in a corner of the room, floor stability is the greatest there. If beams are below the wooden floor, fit a wooden board under the machine and screw it to as many beams as possible. Make sure the unit is perfectly levelled. We usually recommend that the unit is installed in the basement on a concrete floor because that is where there will be most stability. In regards to the drainage in the seal, we haven't had any complaints of mold issues. As with any front loaders, you do need to follow a few simple maintenance rules. Make sure you wipe down the seal after you're done with your laundry. If you're able to, leave the door ajar for a few hours to make sure it has a chance to dry completely. Once a month, run a hot water cycle without any detergent in your appliance to rid the appliance of any detergent residue you may have. Try to avoid using too much detergent in your washer as well. A little goes a long way with a front loader since they are very low water consumption. And there are no plans to bring back a 240 V washer in the future in Canada. lol . For god sake put the 12 volt lights in for saftey.I have seen light seals go bad and GFI breakers go bad. Now what will happen if the seal goes bad in the light and water makes its way in ussually a few years down the road when the gfi breakers are getting sticky? Safety has to be considered first. 500 watts of electric is 500 watts either 12 volts or 120 volts. But the biggest 12 volt light is 300 watt and two will be ok but 3 might be better for that pool size.
