I think I'd like the black trim around the garage doors with your front door painted black as well.

I think the trim should match the rest of the house. It will make the doors feel finished - they look like something is missing right now.

I would not do the black, as it will only draw more attention to the garage doors, and away from the front door area.

I think the red door would be a lot of fun. You might also look for a very deep orange - I think that could be great.

Our house is sided with a tan that has pink undertones. I find that anything with a reddish cast brings out the pink, which is the opposite of what I want. With this in mind, you might want to think about a different color for the door--maybe a deep green or a really rich brown? Think about how to bring out the shades you like in the brick or the siding. I'd be afraid that red would highlight the pink tones not only in the trim, but also in the brick.

Sorry to confuse you by adding a third opinion! I like the garage doors as they are now, with no different trim color and no 'eye liner'. It forms so much of the front of your house that I like to see the 'high lights' of painted trim on the house proper, not the garage, to bring more interest to the house itself.

My family had a camp painted in similar tones, and the doors were a dark bittersweet color, which was gorgeous with the greens. Since your door is in the shadows, a slightly lighter/brighter color that than the Sun dried Tomato might make the door more visible.

I like the garage doors as they are now as they blend in. I think making your front door stand out would be the best change. The sun dried tomato would be a good color for the door and maybe accent with a large ceramic planter and a brightly colored plant. Looks like that door might be shaded most of the time so wonder if the area is well lit?

Your house is beautiful as is. I agree that the garage should just blend in. Not what you want to highlight.

If you love the door color you chose, go for it. I see golden flecks in your brick close up and think that would be a good door color.

I love the possible door color!! Or a vote for Benjamin Moore's Cottage Red for the front door ((with a large black door knocker too! LOL!!!)) -- but would not vote for anything that emphasizes the garage doors and the house trim should match the house color if possible ....

Yes, I think doing the trim on the garage door would give the doors and front facade a more finished look. They do have trim and, to me, stand out as unfinished. There's a certain blandness or dullness across the garage area that jumps out, I think. I don't think it would draw a lot of attention to the doors but would just balance the trim color across the house with those little sparks of highlight seen elsewhere. Maybe try just the outer trim first to see what you think (if that looks finished enough, or odd). Your trim color is not bold so unless the whole band of trim really stands out from other angles I don't think it will accent them. We only see a sliver head-on and a portion of the sides at any one time.

Your front is showing in heavy shadow. I'd go with a lighter color to brighten and emphasize the door. I'm thinking a bit lighter than the trim color (or else a little darker if it still shows enough). Something that's not exactly flush with the trim color but is still a light warm color that has the golden tones that your trim reads from here. You can then put some color/red around the door with a wreath and pot of flowers. They'll pop more on the light backdrop. What color is the door now?

I really like the monochromatic feel of your house colors (and would maintain that flow by not getting too strong or vibrant with a door color). Very pretty!

Sorry, I somehow missed your photoshop of the light trim on the garage doors. I'd just do the trim around the door opening. Not anything on the door itself as you've shown.
