anyone return a rug to overstock.com?
Comments (14)Wow, expensive shipping. I should've remembered the gift of a LARGE teddy bear I sent to my niece's new baby--cost over $75 to send it to her (very big bear in an equally big box)...good thing the bear was "free". So, since the rug was barely over $100, I'll just keep it and use it until I find something I like better....and who knows, by then maybe it'll have grown on me. Thanks,...See MoreHas Anyone Bought a Rug in Turkey?
Comments (11)If you've done your research, you should be okay. Know what you will pay and what is too much for your budget. Be sure to examine the rug, turning it over to look at the knots, etc. Be prepared to bargain. Then bargain some more. It is expected, and no one really expects you to pay the price that is first stated. Bargaining can go on for a while, with the shop owner offering you cups of tea or even something to eat. If you can't get the price down to what you want for one rug, sometimes asking for a second, smaller (or in other ways less expensive) rug to be thrown in can seal the deal. If you look non-Turkish, people will walk up to you on the street and invite to you their brother/father/cousin's rug store. You can go or not as you choose. If you stop by a store and spend more than a minute or two looking, someone may come out and press you to enter. This is very normal if you look like a tourist. You can just smile, shake your head, and walk away if you are not interested. Look all you want. Ask prices. But once you start to bargain in earnest, there will be more of an expectation that you will buy something. But it doesn't have to be what you started bargaining for. Not to scare you or anything--just be sure that you really want something before you get very involved in negotiating the price. There are plenty of wool rugs available. You need only buy silk if you want to. (My brother's wife is Turkish and they have lived there for the past 16 years. Bargaining is a sport and an art form there. )...See MoreQ for anyone who's gotten an area rug from overstock.com
Comments (4)Often times the reviews, if there are any, will address size, color, etc. I agree that if your really like the rug, order it. If the size is different from what is stated, make an argument for free shipping to return. The rugs that I have ordered have been true to the size stated. The size should not include the fringe. If the only size given is 8 x 10 or 9 x 12, that is probably the correct size....See MoreHas anyone bought a couch from Maidenhome?
Comments (33)I am just so obsessed with this look and all the products in it. Would love to know if anyone here has comments on any of the pieces in the photo - most of of what I've read is very positive in terms of the quality but new to the brand and would love any specific feedback on these pieces/fabrics before taking the plunge. My good friend owns a large Jones sectional in Oyster Linen and its very comfortable gorgeous but thats my only in person exposure to the brand. They have a pop up show house in NYC/TriBeCa in August which I'm hoping to attend but kind of don't wait till then to place my order and besides not even sure what products will be on display there! Any thoughts on Perry Chairs in Nubuck, Muir Sectional Sofa, Morro Large Table and Mott Stool in Shearling. TIA!...See Moresquirrelheaven
