Yes, I'm with Toyo on this. Don't jump to the conclusion it's a fungus. That assumption can kill your plant in a couple of days, and here's why: You say it moves fast-- that's usually a sign of bacterial rots. Fngus rots move slower, so you have more time to deal with it. Bacterial rots move very fast. From a spot on a leaf to losing the whole pb can happen in two days. And from then on it's moving fast toward the remaining pbs. So when it's fast moving and you aren't sure, treat for both right away, but for sure for bacterial. I had one start on a C Bactia once, and I couldn't keep ahead of the rot. Even tho I cut into fresh tissue each time, the rot had gotten there first. So rule #1 is act quickly-- time is on the other side in this. The bacteria that start this sort of thing are always around, and opportunistic-- they take any chance they get. And chance is usually a cool, dim, wet period. If you can give the plant more air (set a fan at low speed on it) and more light, that will help prevent future outbreaks. Treat as Toyo said. Also, for the future, *sometimes* spots on the leaves can be stopped by cutting the spot out and treating with cinnamon, or if spot is small, without cutting and just rubbing cinnamon over the leaf on both sides. I have a 36" Wolf AG with grill. You don't say if this is an island or wall mount, the duct run, if a wall mount if there are cabinets on either side, and what hood depths you're considering. All of these will play into cfm requirements. I'm assuming Asian means front burner stirfry. If this is a wall mount and you were to come out to 27" depth such that the front burner is covered, depending on the brand of hood and the volume of the capture area (some hoods have small capture areas while others have very large capture areas) I would think 1200 cfm would be adequate, especially if your range top config has the grill in the center and an inside front burner on which you'll be stirfrying. We have a 600cfm 27"X42" VH, wall mounted and flanked with cabinets on either side and it's more than adequate. A 12" duct should easily meet spec/code for that level of cfms. We discussed our setup with a customer service rep from VH and he was very helpful as we had several issues around mounting and duct size. One caveat: we did a lot of homework on this and we're technically trained--different brands of hoods cannot be compared on cfms alone. There are a host of variables that will affect performance.

Hi chac_mool Yes, I agree that I need more experimentation before blowing thousands on a unit that I expect to have for many years. Unfortunately my choice of dealers is limited. What is worse is that whatever I buy will probably be serviced by this dealership. Honestly this gives me a bad feeling. Now I need to know that my cooktop will be bulletproof! I'm not too concerned with cookware. I have a lot of cast iron, and I took a look at some induction-ready pots at my locat Costco. It will do fine. I like free stuff as much as anyone, but the promotions at the dealership were just silly. I felt sorry for the BS rep having to tell us about the mitts with a straight face. The Freedom cooktop is definitely cool. I expect a lot more technical innovation in the next 5-10 years. And I'm sure prices will come down.

Okay, Sunny, here's what I'd do: You cannot control what your DH does, but you can control what you do. Tell your husband that you have things that you want to do at home this weekend and if he wants to see his son, he's free to make the drive and do it, but without you. Stay home if you don't want to go. A 20 year old is not a boy. He needs to earn his spending money (and probably be paying for some of his education, IMHO), and if he is NOT doing that then your husband (or whomever the "bank" is) has every right to place restrictions on how that money can be used. Period. You are only in control of money you EARN, not money that is handed to you. I realize that you cannot stop your husband from handing out cash or writing checks, whatever to his son. He's going to have to do it. "Insist you drive down." No, there's none of that. If he wants to go to his grandparents, fine, but to insist that you disrupt your lives every weekend--no. He's an adult now and is certainly not in a position to demand anything. You do NOT need to feel guilty about saying no. Here's what I'd do if I were in charge: As long as he carries a certain reasonable GPA, attends class, does what he's supposed to do, continue your financial contribution to his education, i.e. tuition, housing--whatever you agreed to originally. Pay the SCHOOL/landlord, etc. No money directly to him. No money for "extras." No dinners out, entertainment, fraternity, or anything like that. If he wants to do that, he has to come up with the cash himself. You're not telling him anything new. That was part of your initial agreement, I believe. Your husband has to cut him off and force him to grow up. If he does not, then you're stuck. Yup, you're going to be irritated and resentful--a consequence that happens and that's not going to make your husband very happy. Too bad. Neither one of them is showing any signs of maturity, and your husband is only feeding that by catering to his ADULT son. Do something for yourself on a weekend where your husband's away visiting. Make yourself feel better. That's about all you can do.
