Where do you think I could find a door like this?

I have searched and searched all sorts of architectural salvage and vintage sources looking for a door like this. Anybody have a lead? Thanks.

My only guess is
remove upper panels
put in glass
stencil "washroom"

Go to a website like Trustile Doors. You can choose glass, panel details etc. It is not inexpensive but you should be able to get almost exactly what you want in the right size.

The short answer really is "No". I fell in love with that same pattern two years ago and obsessed about how to make it work in our loo. And how to justify its cost. And if I couldn't find a near substitute. The pattern is copyrighted and as nearly as I can tell is only made by Sandersons and a company in Canada. Both of which seemed costly. After spending way too much time looking for a "similar" paper and up against the get the-loo-done deadline, I finally bit the bullet and ordered the paper from a Sandersons book at a local wallpaper store. I do think the Canadian source would have been a little cheaper. You can find it by googling William Morris wallpaper. How do you plan to use it? I put it above a plate rail with one of the greens below. I'm still not thrilled with my green color choice. But I still do love the pattern.

I haven't had a chance to update this til now (had periodontal surgery on Friday, and have been pretty much out of it since then) - but did want to say that we got the CL piece, it's in place, and I really like it! Since we didn't have anywhere else to use, or even store, the old painted piece, we put it at the curb Friday evening (a bit reluctantly on my part -- after all, it was one of the first things I "created" when we moved into this house about six years ago). But it was picked up within about an hour, so I hope that it's making somebody else happy now. :-) DH doesn't want me to paint this piece, but I keep envisioning it in some kind of stain -- maybe a turquoise or red -- that would give it some color while still allowing it to look like a wooden stained piece. I'm not even sure if such a treatment exists, but I'm thinking it probably does -- I just don't know what to call it! Anyway, here are new pics. Oh, and it holds a lot of stuff too. With the exception of a couple of pair of presently unused 2" blinds, which were stored in the old piece, the new piece holds everything that I had stored in the other chest. I do wish it didn't have to be sandwiched in by the washer and dryer, but my hands are pretty much tied in that regard. ;-) (Must apologize for dark pictures again! I dunno what I'm doing wrong with the camera ...)

And they obviously have put some thought into this." they do have debt. they spend about $950 @ month on car and student loan debt. $950 is a lot money for the next several years. in 5 years they will have spent $57,000 in payments plus whatever interest is there. they should have paid those off with their 20% and re-save. in 2-3 years they would have had their 20% again w/o ANY debt. The poster also mentioned that he and his wife would like to have children in the next 2 or 3 years. May I point out that daycare alone is probably way more than $950/month - so that money may already be encumbered. I think the point we fiscal conservatives are making is not that the OP shouldn't buy a house, it's just that the goal of buying or building a dream house may be out of reach in these uncertain economic times. Actually it is often out of reach for one's first house. The OP absolutely has the means and ability to buy a house and he definitely should move forward. But I happen to think the cost is on the high side and may create future stresses (e.g., HAVING to work to meet a mortgage payment versus being able to downshift one's work schedule to meet family needs). My husband and I have a similar gross income as the OP without car or student loans and there is no way I could imagine paying $2600/month for P&I and taxes and insurance and still have enough money to meet our needs. OTOH, we have two children - can I say they are incredibly expensive? We spend about $100 a WEEK on tutoring, music lessons and sports on my daughter alone. While we can look forward to tutoring ending within the next 6 months (and saving $65 a week), it's not an optional item that we can cut.

OGT has a ton of doors, but they are not cheap. This one is $650 plus shipping if you don't live nearby.

I've been waiting to come across a door like that for years, and also looking at other doors I can insert the glass panel into. I like the one in the inspiration pic alot. Thanks for the links posted.

Thank you for the links. I love the OGT website. Don't know why I've never seen it before. I just think that something like this would be perfect for our "public" bathroom. It was going to be a powder room, but because it is 6 x 9 we decided to add a footed tub. (Which in turn allowed us to eliminate the tub in the master and get a bigger shower!!) The signage will help guests avoid going into our master closet since both doors open into the back hall.

Allison, great link-found architectural pieces from a house down the street from where I grew up. So sad (a travesty actually) that they tore it down-it was an amazing 1929 Spanish style home. Can't believe no one tried harder to save it as an historical site (La Ronda designed by Mizner).

You're welcome. OGT is fun to look through, but expensive. The only thing I bought was the iron seal from the West Side Hwy bridge (NYC) that is over our range. It easily weighs 70lbs. It's all about New Amsterdam, beaver pelt trading (we have beavers visit our lake yearly >:( ) and the trading company. Pretty cool.

Historic House Parts is definitely better priced!

Yes, it is sad when they tear down buildings or homes. At least they save things from the dump.

That iron seal is wonderful-your entire kitchen, too! They had similar things with Pennsylvania/Philadelphia connections that I was tempted to buy.
