Still a girlfriend, not yet stepmom

I'm in a committed relationship with a man who has a 7yo daughter, and some weeks I find it very trying. He and the BM have worked out week on-week off custody, so it's very hard to maintain any kind of regularity in scheduling. It takes her a day or so to adjust to the change, and the truth is that once she settles in, her behavior can frequently irritate me. She talks loudly, laughs loudly, clings to her dad but also wants to be next to me at all times. I feel like her dad is doesn't give her enough boundaries, that she's constantly arguing back, that she doesn't know how to accept it when someone tells her no, and...I guess I could go on for a while. I suppose, aside from my wanting to vent a bit (she went back to her mom's this afternoon), I'm curious what you all think about the alternating week custody arrangement. I don't think it's a healthy arrangement for the child, but she gets to spend equal time with both of her parents.

And the lack of boundaries--it's something I need to work out w/ my boyfriend but I'm not yet comfortable with disciplining his daughter. Any similar experiences?

Thanks.
