Smoke smell???
Comments (3)Did you get a hint of skunk later on? My dog was sprayed by a skunk so close that you could see the stuff on her fur. It smelled like burning hair. But, later, you could definitely smell skunk! My neighbor's dog had the same thing happen. They have a doggy door and were awakened during the night by the odor. The husband even went up into the attic trying to find what was burning. They thought it might have been an electrical fire....See MoreEasy solutions for smoke smell
Comments (5)Smoke allergies can be very serious - as someone with smoke-allergy-triggered asthma myself, I have to say that you need to put your sister's health at a higher priority, if not your own. 1. Quit smoking, it causes cancer and ages you faster 2. If you can't quit, smoke outside. It is a fire hazard to smoke in bed please do not do it! You can't "remove" smoke indoors, even the best HEPA filter can't remove all the particles and those nasty pollutants will permeate your neighbor's apartments as well as your own....See MorePainters smoked in my house!!!
Comments (25)I am so sorry this happened to you. How did everything turn out? We just paid big bucks to have our cabinets refinished. The painter installed them when we were not home. The next day I was abhorred to find that they smell like cigarette smoke!!!!! Painter says they did not smoke around my cabinets. Here it is a week plus later and I still smell cigarette smoke in the kitchen. I am so mad. Painter says to clean them with vinegar and water. Why in the heck would I want to clean my new cabinets??? Freaking ridiculous!! However there is no way I want him back at my house. What would you do??...See MoreHow to Get Smoke Smell Out of Vintage Lamps
Comments (18)I'm a vintage dealer, primarily 30s-early 60s clothing (when smoking was considered glamorous,) so I deal with this all the time. White vinegar is your best bet but start with Dawn, well diluted first. Get your qtips out and get in all those nooks and crannies. Test a tiny hidden spot first, of course. Dilute if necessary and repeat as necessary. Options are sunlight (for the ozone,) or actual ozone treatments (often offered by furriers.) Do NOT use febreeze (which only makes it smell like smoke and febreeze.) Newspaper, baking soda and kitty litter really aren't all that effective (as someone mentioned, until you break down that sticky nicotine coating the smell will always return.) Best of luck!
