Stuff I've been working on

This is a lazy susan I got from Big Lots and made in Mardi Gras colors for a coworker in thanks for some special things she's done for my children recently.

This is the latest of the stepping stones for work I created. Some of you may remember we're selling these as a fundraiser and a couple of folks here have generously donated scrap glass and mosaic pieces. (Recognize any of the tiles ladies? :-)

Dunno if I've shown you this stone. Made it from a recycled piece of stained glass that I wasn't happy with. It was given to a coworker last week as part of her 25th Anniversary with our therapy center gift (along with the red rose below).

I also made this peace dove over the weekend as a wedding gift for a contractor my hubby has done quite a bit of work for in the last year.

It's been a busy couple of weeks!

ttennis...I think my posting earlier must have went to cyberspace! I remember thinking what an awesome combination of wrought iron and glass! I love it! As others said, the door entry and cup feeder...just fits perfectly! Your gardens are looking wonderful & can see how the hard work you've done! The little "blue birds" glass totem is so charming! wheelman, I'm just across the pond from you in Wisconsin. I live about 4 miles west of Lake Michigan just north of Milwaukee. The lake does indeed keep me warmer in the winter. I only fall to about -10 or so each winter, while just west of me they see some nights of -20 to -25. I've had palms in the ground since 2008... and that oldest one is still alive today! Here is a picture of it from early last week. That trachy was planted as a tiny 3 gallon in July, 2008. I protect it with a double poly box (air space in between). Over that I have a 1 1/2 inch layer of styrofoam and inside is a space heater set at 40F. Works great! I usually leave the foam off the south side unless we're expecting below zero weather. Sun free heats it during the day and the palm gets light. Bonus! I put the boxes on when lows start getting below 20, so about Thanksgiving or so and they come off in mid to late March. 20F doesn't phase trachys at all, as long as it gets above freezing during the day. Here is another thing Cindy made, I had scrounged the mold for free and here is one of the molds, the 1/2 head, there is a full head too, that I hope she posts about!(It is about the same size of a real person's head...I perm markered his eyes to make him more creepy!lol!) Slow....I'm really starting to lean towards selling. The gallery that wants my stuff, takes 40%...so that has put me off for a while. But I'm really starting to think about other options. My daughter thinks I need to try to make her a better deal. She has said my stuff was front window quality......so my daughter is urging me to make a better deal with her. I may just try and see..... I have a hard time giving anyone 40%. The Base and supplies are much more than any of their other stuff .. Most are Canvas's and paint...Pottery.. small sculptures ...My bases are spendy .. I think about a tea set...I pay $45.00 for the set... then $30 for the glass....my time..glue ..grout, and it looks like I'm trying to screw someone! then add 40% to that! I now notice how over priced stuff is there..and the reason is the 40% commission! So ebay might work for me. Just looking into it. So impressed you thought it was worthy of selling! that lights a fire under my butt!!!hahaha Hazie

icheer, your work is beautiful. My jaw is on the floor that you could make the stained glass dove 'over the weekend'. Your rose SG is beautiful too!

The dove almost didn't make it out of the house in one piece! I carefully cleaned it, polished it, snuggled it into some bubble wrap and placed it on my work stool ... then promptly sat on it! You know that sick feeling you get in the bottom of your stomach when you've made a MAJOR mistake? Luckily, all was well with it, no cracks or breakage, and I quickly put it in the box I was wrapping it in!

The dumb things we do when we're tired ~ lol.

What??? Where did THAT come from?? I had no idea you were such an artist! My favorite is the blue dawg stone. It's just soooo cool! The Stained glass windows are neat, but da-hannng, that blue dawg has my tail waggin'. (no not really, it was a figure of speech). My tail was chewed off by my last boss....

I must confess - I work a lot on stained glass and mosaics and do very little else except my job. I'm at a cool stage of my life where the only children I have left at home are teenagers so they're pretty self sufficient. I've cooked and cleaned for a bajillion kids over the years (formerly foster parents) so DH understands that I'm just burnt out on cooking now so I don't anymore. We either eat out, pop something in the microwave, or have fend for yourself nights where everyone fixes what they want to eat. I also hired :::gasp::: a housekeeper :::gasp::: to come once a week who does all of the laundry and housekeeping type stuff.

We're not typically what you'd think of as "housekeeper" type people - just regular folks muddling along, but she came with the house sort of :-) We moved in a year ago and she cleans for several of the neighbors. DH met her, liked her, hired her, and we all lurvvvvvvves her now :-) I drive a seven year old car so I can afford her and she's worth every stinking penny :-)

All this to say that because of the above, I come home and play with glass just about every day - except when I'm playing with my granddaughters who come to visit every month for a few days.

I'm one lucky lady who thinks her hubby of 21+ years is sexy as can be, my kids are wonderful, my job is fun and pays decently for a non-profit, and am having more fun than should be allowed with my new hobby. Middle age rockkkks!

Glad you didn't break your dove. That's a bad feeling isn't it?? I sold some of my mom's knick-knacks ( better than garage sale,but not up to real money stuff) on eBay last spring...and of course broke one while packing. That "oh NO " moment lol

Love them all but I think the stepping stone is my favorite (don't let my dog obsessed kids hear me). You are so talented to be able to do so many styles. I can barely grout ok, my soldering is awful..
