Help! How do I fix this screw-up

Ok. I have a 25 yr old china cabinet. It had alot of scratches, nicks etc, sooo I thought I would just touch up the finish with some stain. Well, before I knew, I had basically put stain on the whole thing. The stain has polyurethane in it. Well...it's been 4 days and it's still tacky. I didn't strip it first, I did wipe it down with greased lightening, diluted in water to remove any old wax and dirt. Is there anything I can do other than completely strip it??? I sure hope so cause it would be a nightmare to strip. Aauggh??!! It's not completely wet, it is tacky to the touch. Some places feel almost dry. ANY advice would be greatly appreciated!
