update from FL

Hi all,

I've been MIA lately - have an ailing dog who took a horrible turn for the worse yesterday. I've been nursing her along all week, find myself pretty sad, but still hopeful that my 12 y.o. friend can pull through this weekend.

In other news, I was being questioned at the office yesterday by my asst, SS's friend w/ whom he keeps in touch to some degree. Anyway, she was asking me all types of questions about tumors in dogs, prognoses, differential diagnoses, etc. I was being optimistic and said that sometimes things are superficial skin growths, etc. She shook her head negatively and said, "Come. I have to show you something. You can't tell your husband. His son is driving me nuts and now look - his dog has such a huge tumor she can barely walk."

We went to her email and opened mail from SS. Pics of his dog, whom I have known and cared for years were chilling. She has a HUGE tumor in the junction of her belly and back leg. I was horrified.

Friend said to SS that he HAD to get her to a vet. He said, "Well, I don't have a job. I can't get a job 'cause Dad took my car away, so it's all his fault! And don't tell me to call him 'cause I'm afraid of Dana picking up the phone!"

Well, he is the scum of the earth as far as I'm concerned now. He HAD a car for YEARS and chose not to get a job or finish school. If he's afraid of me, after this, he has every right to be. To allow an animal to suffer is unforgiveable. He claimed to always love this dog. Losers and weirdos have NO BUSINESS having pets. I'm very passionate about this cause as you see. I'm so serious about despising irresponsible pet owners - you have no idea. I'm fighting for my dog's life while he's just letting his go. Her distress isn't enough to move him to join the work force and I'm disgusted.

I can't get the images out of my mind.

Dana
