Torn Stepdaughter :-\

IÂm newly married  2nd time for both. We each have one daughter. Mine is 7 and my stepdaughter is 12.

IÂm concerned about my stepdaughter. IMO  she does not act like a healthy, happy, thriving 12 y.o. But how do I know for sure? Her dad thinks her behavior is perfectly normal  he always has an "explanation" for her behavior and lack of friends. IÂm torn! Do I let this go because this is his daughter and therefore not my call? Or, do I have a moral duty to try and help this (IMO) troubled child?

I would like to have her evaluated. If the evaluation comes back as a "normal/hormonal" pre-teen  then I will certainly sleep better. And if not  I will be thrilled that she is getting the attention she needs (and will sleep better :-). Her dad doesnÂt see anything wrong in the first place and his only experience with therapy was less than positive.

Thoughts???
