Are the girls being challenged?

I have seen a few school related topics come up in other posts so I thought I would throw this situation into the pot.....

The girls as you know are int he same kindergarten class. They sit on opposite sides of the room so as not to disrupt each other. We have never had any behavior issues with this girls in fact, people ALWAYS compliment us on how well behaved they are for their age. This includes their daycare teachers and babysitters.

All of the sudden we start getting reports home that they arn't listening. They arn't following directions. They arn't paying attention...yadda yadda yadda. I suspect the problem is the work they are doing is boring the hell out of them. They do ditto sheets which I hate to start with. They color with ONE color all week so they can "learn their colors". Problem is the girls have known their colors since they were three. They are also counting to ten. The girls can can't in excess to thirty five. I don't feel they are being challenged and that's why they are having trouble in class.

N---- informed me she didn't get ice cream yesterday because "she wasn't listening". When I asked her what she did her reply was "I didn't use a green crayon." My guess is the child was SICK of the color green!!!

The teacher is a discipline Nazi who in the first week of school was already putting kids in the corner and putting childrens name on "the bad list". I feel this is a form of public humiliation and not really constructive "discipline" but rather "punishment".

Also, I feel denying a child food as punishment fosters eating disorders so I totally do not agree with taking away a child's desert while the rest of her class mates chow down. Studies show kids who are punished or rewarded heavily with food are alot more likely to develop food issues.

I feel the staff out there are already annoyed with us for insisting the girls be in the same class. It was brought up in front of a class full of parents at Open House by the girls teacher. It was also mentioned in front of sewing class since the instructor is a teacher's aid at the school. It is apparently a HUGE deal that the girls were put together and it has been a topic of MUCH discussion in the staff lounge.

Is it possible the girls are being picked on? How would you suggest the topic of the girls being bored be brought up? I'm curious to see if my ideas are the same as yours....
