Boulderbelt, You are apsoulutely right about not knowing what organic gardening is until you begin to get certified. It's crazy! Nonetheless I truly would love to get certified but overall from hearing from others I feel I may be better off at least for now somehow obtaining all the information I can into the nop standards and just going strictly with that. For one I am just starting out, and another from what it sounds is that it is a long period of being certified and also it requires having $$$$ availiable to sustain the long process. But I can say my ultimate goal would be to offer a product that isn't just near organic. But truly 'Organic' by the strict standards without being certified. At least until I can reasonably decide the extra money and increased business would justify it. I am somewhat discouraged by what seems an unattainable goal. (certification) At least for now. But I think I can let others in that it is 'Natural' With no chemicals, or synthetic ingredients. eric wa, I so appreiciate you sharing the photo! I think that really sealed things that I can try it without the lime added in. Every mix I have ever seen has some amount of lime added in. So I just hope that I can get the plants to thrive even though the ph may be higher due to the acidity. I think it's worth a shot.! If you have any other suggestions let me on them! Linda, we seem to being butting heads again, but with all due respect, I think the fact that I have been a rug dealer for 35 years gives me a *tad* bit more knowledge and experience than you on this one. While I have no desire to argue the point, I will simply say, the OP's rug most definitely does have a center flower as you describe. I have seen thousands of these, and the coloring is especially typical. This style and coloring were very common in rugs made in India using a Persian design, referred to as Indo-Persian. They were a staple when the embargo was in place with Iran. The market was flooded with Indo-Persian and Pakistani rugs at the time because of the embargo. Therefore, I *would* say that this is more likely an Indo-Persian rug rather than a rug woven in Iran, unless it belonged to someone who lived there, as no rugs were entering *legally* 20 years ago. Ohhh! Thank you for the info, everyone! I had my mom check out the drawers, and they are only nails, so a good deal (better than Ikea!) but not an AMAZING one. For me, what was telling was the tops-- they seem glossy, which would not be characteristic of 1875, yes? I would think the glossy = veneer. Prickly, that is sweet of you to say. Sending fairy dust so that you find something soon!!!!

It's slow-growing and most modern orchard trees are dwarfs anyhow, so there aren't a lot of them big enough to use for lumber; that's probably why google isn't much help. It's also difficult to dry (warps terribly) and is very unstable. On the bright side, it's lovely to look at. I think it would be a poor choice for cutting boards because it would be difficult to prepare and work with and, I suspect, would warp in use because cutting boards are exposed to so much wetting and drying. But really, it is very pretty.
