I lost my innocence today....

I took a break from cleaning the house and jumped in the car and headed straight to the local glass shop.

I bought a #5 lb. bag of colorful scraps of end pieces of spectrum glass

then, as if that wasn't enough...

I drove straight back home and got on ebay and found a site that had scraps from their shop..

I bought 2 lots of #10 each of blues and even more blues

as if I was satisfied....no....

I went on to buy yet another #10 bag of an assorted mix of colors....

I didn't have patience to do the bidding routine...no, I did the "buy it now" drill.

it's finally gotten to me, all the beautiful creations that are posted here and I don't have a dammmmmmd thing to share and show.

I do have a sparkly clean kitchen though..but who cares?..lol

I'm going to be sitting on pins and needles, waiting for delivery of the boxes...

that's 30 pounds of colorful delight, coming my way!

I just love the fact that the Garden Web let's us do this stuff and encourages US !! and that its OK to GO WILD!!!!
I'm so glad.... WE can just get all caught up in it and just C R E A T E !!!! and we are NOT breaking any laws ---- just dishes/ GLASS _ and stuff...
I'll just be watching to see your pictures...

GOOD FOR YOU!!! How long does a clean kitchen last anyway? You're creating something that gives you and everyone who sees it pleasure for a long time plus the satisfaction of the creative process. And, all in all, it's a lot cheaper than most hobbies. Speaking of....going to the thrift store today to take them stuff and it's the beginning of 1/2 price week!

Thanks to all of you for the kind words. There were so many people at the wake it took several hours for all of them to get in. So many flowers that they filled up 2 rooms. Mary would have have been pleased to know that she was so loved by so many people. Those of us who knew her best noted that it was past cocktail time and if I had a designated driver last night I surely would have gone to the country club and had a couple of drinks for Mary. She was always doing fun things and when you were around her you couldn't help but have fun. She was like the rest of us an avid reader and she was in bed reading when she passed. Now for those of us left here, life goes on and we'll go with it as far as it is meant for us to.

BBG had RRD in a corner of their gardens and didn't even identify the disease for some time (until we visited and explained to them what it was.) I think their idea of companion planting is a good one, but they haven't been doing it long enough to prove anything, yet. If you've visited BBG, you remember that the garden is surrounded by a city with multistory buildings. Their disease pressure would probably be low to begin with. There might be wild roses in within five miles, but it's only when you get down to the shore of the sound that Rosa multiflora becomes a major plant. The one thing that we can do is notice which plants aren't getting RRD when all roses around them are getting sick. I've written about R. bracteata having leaves that the vector mite doesn't recognize as rose, so the vector leaves. I think another thing that might help is roses that go semi-dormant in summer and early fall, so that the mites can't reach undifferentiated meristemic tissues in the bud axils. If you have a tall structure that had RRD on it, (see the bit in the e-book about my friend's New Dawn) and the replacement rose gets RRD, then that structure is doing air flow things that drop the mites. That becomes a clematis or passion flower or other great climber place. I have been growing the native Amethyst Falls wisteria, whose pale lavender blue flowers look really good with OGR pink roses. And Amethyst Falls does repeat a bit and blooms several weeks after the more common foreign version. What more do I know now? I know that the scientists at U. Arkansas have isolated the RRD virus; that makes it RRV. I know that it's continuing to spread. I think there may be some suggestions as to the origin of the disease. i m so very sorry for you dear...you know one fine day,same thing happened with me and u know what i got a call that my parents have died in an accident..i was not at all prepared and had met them a couple of hours before...this happened on 27th april '08...my younger brother was driving the car ...he is just 24,i m 27 and my mom dad were in their early 50's...today i cant even accept and believe that they r gone..i just keep calling them to talk and all but no body picks call...i keep calling them try to talk to them..it pains so much and i always keep crying....i m not able to believe they r gone and i dont have a family to go to..me n my brother were so dependent on them...I know my dear it is going to be very difficult,it hurts a lot ..mom is a mom then... but try to involve yourself in your family members love them u have DAD...support him emotionally...try to cherish the good moments u have shared together i know its difficuly,for me too it is... i have a BIG blank in my life ...since that say i have sleepless nights and haunting mornings telling me something is missing... but I hope God gives us strenght to carry on...hugs my dear...

If you are looking to get a computer in the near future and are a fan of outlook express (been using for many years and I also hate the change) you will not be able to continue using it with Windows 7...You can still use it on all older computers inluding vista but when Windows 7 came with my new computer it had no email program with it, and tells you to get your own. It will not support Outlook express. I had to download another program which was free, (Thunderbird) to receive my home email and support the account that held it without changing my email address. I have hot mail and yahoo, both free and have used them for years also, but my Outlook express account took care of all my personal and household mail. That address I did not give out freely. Had I known before I purchased this version I probably would have opened a gmail (free) account and gradually turned my mail over to that to get used to it.

How exciting. I get so excited waiting for a new shipment and ooh and awwwing over the glas when it gets here. I haven't been disappointed yet, regardless of where I get it from! Show pics when it arrives so we can enjoy it with you!

You did the right thing. I ordered 30 lbs of oceana glass scrap a while ago, it was like Christmas when it arrived. All the glass was so beautiful.You'll love having all that new stuff to play with.

hahahahahaha.. sounds so familiar!! I really need new shoes, [I am using my mosaic glue to keep the soles on my hiking boots] but can't seem to spend the money on that nonsense....not when there are glass sales abound!

Aren't we funny?? Think nothing of spending $$$ on glass or a new tool. All my "everyday" clothes have stains of some sort.Can't hardly go to the store without looking raggedy!!
