lost My Email-Today's Rant

I got a computer in 2000 (maybe 1999) and signed up for ATT email. I faithfully pay $29.95 a month for service. About a month ago, ATT sent me an email that they were moving to Yahoo and I should transfer my account. Printed it out and (of course) lost the email. Yesterday I found I couldn't log on, at all. Called their help line and the wait was 45 minutes. Now I'm not sitting on the phone that long. Anybody here have ATT and have any suggestions? Or should I go to another Email such as Yahoo (they have free email). What can you recommend? Of, and don't send me an email thru "my Page". I won't get it, haha!

Google also has free e-mail. Your address could be Jannie@gmail.com (although I didn't check to see if that's available).

But, I know several folks who still have "@att.net" as their e-mail address. I can't imagine AT&T "moving to Yahoo."

I have my email through Cox,my provider,and also have one at Yahoo and Hot mail.Don't pay anyone anything for it.

Angie you werent getting rid of me that fast...I have your addie and info...tee hee... Michelle, I was in such a panic, esp after I was in the middle of about 15 trades...and only had half of them written down... they changed programs without giving notice, and I had a heart attack ( not literally) when all my emails were gone..and just think...I cant black mail Angie now, I lost all her emials..." love ya Angie" ...LOL Thanks for all the wrote, I am back on track, although there was three people I was wanting to trade with, and lost touch...I guess they werent too interested or they would have emialed me again, and then I would of been all set. I dont know what I would do without my friends here...you all bring a lot of joy into my days.

Kim, I accept/appreciate the sentiment conveyed in your above post. I continue to feel, though, that if one must use Holy Writ to justify a position OR to instruct others, then it's important (especially given the tenor of our times) to be very sure that whatever divine dictum invoked is quoted with accuracy. With all due respect, I think you've read into the verse you cited something that simply isn't there. That directive & its accompanying promise appear multiple times in both Testaments. In every instance (and in all of the several translations I'm aware of) the adjective modifying "long life" is either "thy" or "your", NEVER "their". So, everybody, we can lighten up and be of good cheer -- God is not going to off mom & dad before their time simply 'cause (like me) you were an insufferable young hellian. On the other hand, as a result of those juvenile trangressions, we maturing delinquents may rapidly (and deservedly?) be approaching our own personal, sadly premature end of days. :-) Since, unfortunately, we're in the mode, I might as well remind the peeved here of the sacred injunction regarding the casting of stones (that would be John 8:7). To any who maintain that they were never in the grips of an irrational snit with a parent (and vocal about it) allow me to say this: Get real. I don't believe a word of it.

Hi Ibuzzell: Why we need roses? Roses is a safe hobby. What if the mother of Sandyhook killer, Nancy Lanza, was into roses rather than guns? There's the true story of a orthopedic surgeon who had a fine gun collection. He was showing them off to the boyfriend of his daughter. That same day, she broke up with him. The boy took one gun from her father's collection, and shot her. She was paralyzed and was confined to a wheelchair for the rest of her life. What if that surgeon was into roses, rather than gun? Unfortunately roses get the bad rap of needing spraying with chemicals ... no one want to bother with that. I have to spray my shower stall with vinegar or hydrogen peroxide to kill mold, and it's the most unpleasant task. Thank God I don't have to spray my 45+ own-root roses. People don't realize that the German chemical giant Bayer makes other crop-control products, and NOT just for roses. 94 million acres of corn are planted with seeds treated with pesticides. There's also the Oberon-insecticides spray for corn. There's a book about fighting cancer written by an M.D. with a brain tumor. He wrote about growing up in France and watching farmers nearby spraying their corn field. There are 3 studies that linked bee decline to Bayer Pesticide. If our crops are sprayed, and if our flowers are sprayed, then how will the bees survive? No flower can smell as good as roses, I grow plenty of fragrant flowers: peonies, lilacs, daffodils, gardenia .... and none of them can match the beauty of roses either. Below is a hedge of Carefree Celebration at the rose park, after October frost. They spray, and I don't see any bees among their 1,200 roses. did you go to your old att page/ is it not there anymore?
have you seen these? is this where you tried to sign in?

I don't know if this will help your situation but from what you say you pay it sounds like you have dsl like I do and using Att/Yahoo go to:

http://dsl.sbc.yahoo.com/

What about Outlooks express?..I use that for my main one and Yahoo for everything I sign up for that I know will sell it...that way it doesn't come to my main email address

If you are looking to get a computer in the near future and are a fan of outlook express (been using for many years and I also hate the change) you will not be able to continue using it with Windows 7...You can still use it on all older computers inluding vista but when Windows 7 came with my new computer it had no email program with it, and tells you to get your own. It will not support Outlook express. I had to download another program which was free, (Thunderbird) to receive my home email and support the account that held it without changing my email address. I have hot mail and yahoo, both free and have used them for years also, but my Outlook express account took care of all my personal and household mail. That address I did not give out freely. Had I known before I purchased this version I probably would have opened a gmail (free) account and gradually turned my mail over to that to get used to it.

I will never again go to the email the internet provider offers for free.

I have gmail, and yahoo mail. Both do excellent service. A little different, but excellent, and free.

My "main addy" is gmail. I have different accounts for different activities, and for that reason, still have yahoo mail.

When google came out with gmail, I was moving, again, and needed a new email address again, cause we were having a new provider at the new town. ARGH.

I decided to try gmail. LOVE it, will never go back again.

And for my internet access, I use fire fox. LOVE it too. Has spell check, pop up blocker.

Just don't go to outlook.

Another one for gmail here too.
When I got the new computer, windows 7, I had to change from outlook express.
I like the design of gmail, it is very easy to use.

I have Windows XP. I tried Outlook a few times, it's not good for me. I'll try to sign up for free Yahoo email.

I have aol....free on one computer and gmail.....free on my new computer. Love the gmail.. Never have to delete e-mails and if I'm looking for info in an old e-mail, it is very easy to search and bring it bak up.

threej's - have you tried Windows Live Mail on your Windows 7 machine? You should be able to use your exhisting ISP based email account like you did with Outlook Express or Windows Mail.

At least I HOPE SO! I am going to upgrade my machine soon and will be trying Windows Live Mail with my ISP email account - crossing my fingers!

threej's my DH says that iowagirl is right- you download Live Mail and set it up as you did with Outlook in the beginning then when you transfer your files to Windows 7, it will transfer your e-mail files also. Good luck

Windows Live Mail on my windows 7 just brings up my hotmail account and msn. Windows live photo gallery also is connected with it. That was the first thing that I did when I got this computer last month. I tried everywhere to get it to work even with support. They said go to thunderbird or a similar program. That is why I used thunderbird as it lets me use the email that I have had since day one, through my isp provider. My laptop (Vista) still has outlook so I can get mail wherever I go.

Last year, I signed up for DSL service from ATT. It turned out to be Yahoo! as marketed by ATT.

If you are having difficulties getting your connection going, go the nearest ATT store and ask for instructions. I have forgotten everything I did to start my service, but Iseem to recall tht I had to log into the ISP and create an account before email would work.

At $29.95 per month, I suspect that you have DSL over the existing phone line. If you do, you will need filters for every other phone connected to that line plus a gateway for you computer connection. (A gateway is a combination of a modem and router.)

My email works just fine. In fact, I have added 2 more sub-accounts for two more computers users in my house.
