What color is it that you have, from the PB link below? Is it the oatmeal? I'd try other drapes before I start painting!

I hope you'll forgive me, but they don't seen to add anything to your rich looking room. I love pattern, and would probably use a patterned fabric with a lining to add weight to them.

If you want to stick with that style, do you have a PB store nearby where you can take in a paint sample and see which of the other colors may look better with it, keeping your rug in mind? I think the ivory is too light. Like the wheat, but is there any gold in the rug?

I like the plain drapes with your figured rug....what if you put some pillows and a throw of the same color on you couch and chair? If you were going to paint, I would choose a color just a little (not much) darker than your drapes.

I really like the wall color. It comes across as soothing and serene to me. I think the panels may be a bit too light and cool colored for the walls and furnishings. Perhaps try another color or a print as my3dogs suggested.

Thank you all! My3Dogs, yes, it's the oatmeal. I brought home a sample of the wheat, and it didn't do anything for the rug. I'd think about a print but don't have an eye for mixing them, so any suggestions would be great! (Actually, I was thinking about painting the room Philadelphia Cream at one point since I love your living room so much!) I think you may be right cheryleb about the coolness of the drapes. The drapes I had before were bright white, so these are a bit darker.

And thanks, grandmaof3 (so jealous!) I'll think about pillows and throws.

Still thinking! I always worry about the dark color as fall and winter come on.

I think the wheat would look nice in your space. I think the oatmeal is fighting slightly with the green. The room looks great! Very cozy!

These may be way out there for you, but there is a lot of open space amid the pattern, and they MAY have several of your rug colors in them - it's hard to tell. They may be too light-weight in look for your leather pieces, but thought I'd throw them out there.

I like the texture added by the crewel embroidery, and there may be a green close to your wall color in them.

I just tool this pic of the ones in my LR that I made a few years ago. Of course its night and so they look a bit darker.

My rug is this one, so you see I fear no pattern mixing! :-)

The Margaritte drapes do have all the colors of the carpet. Thanks for the suggestion! I love the fabric in your room, my3dogs. What I really need (in addition to pattern) is probably something between the oatmeal and the wheat. It would be so great if they were already made and lined and the perfect size for my windows and the perfect pattern. I couldn't be more lazy! Will try the Margaritte and perhaps take a trip to Calico Corners.

I like the paint color and think a print drape pulling from your rug colors would look very nice.

Now many of their fabrics are 'older', but on their last sale, just as an example, I got some of the Robert Allen at Home Bamboo Lattice in Amber that I am linking below, for $3.99 a yard. Joann Fabrics is selling it now for reg. 54.99, SALE 27.49.

I also got some P Kaufmann 'Alta' in Tobacco micro suede there for $3.99, and it sells online for $26.75 at another online site. It's MS-1067 at the Barn, and they have it in three colors.

What's I'm suggesting is that you go there and page through the fabric, as for $3.99 a yard, you don't want to be lazy!

Not sure these are the color you would like, but I got these at Bed Bath and Beyond and loved the material and colors. They hang so well. They look so much nicer in person! Here is a photo. Also, a link to the drapes.

I used to sew, my3dogs, until, well, not sure when or why I stopped! It's kind of like playing piano. Mid 20s? At some point during work and kids different skills dropped away. (Probably could pick a few back up if I weren't on the internet!) I'll take a look at the site though. Thanks!
