If you're lifting weights 3 times a week, you're most likely building tons of muscle and burning fat. The scale is not an accurate measure because, as we all know, muscle weighs more than fat because it's more dense. Does your gym offer a fitness assessment? Get a body composition test that measures your % body fat. If you keep going to the gym and eating well, I guarantee you that if you go for a retest in a month or two, you'll see results...and good ones. Another good way to measure your progress at home is to record your measurements. Your waist, hips, ribcage (just under breasts), thighs, and upper arms are all good places to track progress (I track all of them in a small notebook). If you think food is your problem (eating too much or even too little, eating the wrong things) I'd strongly recommend tracking your caloric intake (carb, fiber, and fat intake are all good things to track too) in a notebook. Measure your serving sizes out so you know what you're putting in your mouth. Find an interactive website to track your food and exercise (SparkPeople.com is my absolute favorite). I know how frustrating the scale can be. Sometimes it just doesn't move, or it moves 5 pounds either way in a week, or even in a day. The comforting part is that the scale is not the best way to measure your progress. Factors as seemingly unimportant as time of day, how much water you've drank (you actually need MORE to NOT retain water), how much sugar is sitting around your muscles, organs, and tissues, and other finicky details actually can make the scale go up. My advice? Step off of it (at least for a week or two at a time), and pick a better way to track your successes!! Best of luck to you! Here is a link that might be useful: Spark People

No discoveries for me yet. An electronic acquaintance, who is enthusiastic about laundry products, freely admits to having stashes of them squirreled away everywhere. The upside was that she was able to supply friends and family when things got scarce. While she was hospitalized for COVID-19 (it does look like she'll recover, btw), her husband discovered her stashes. One of them included something like 3 cases of hand sanitizer refills. She was shocked but happy that he was filling bottles for everyone they know.

This topic reminds me of my Mom and Dad. Mom told me the story of way back when they were first married and Mom would be spending a fair amount of time getting ready for work. She'd come downstairs and it seemed Dad would never say she looked nice, but only comment on something amiss. Back then, women's stockings had seams in them. One morning, she came downstairs and Dad said, your seam is crooked. She'd had enough. She blew up at him ... can't you for once say something nice! He didn't say a word. The next day, she came downstairs all dressed and Dad looked at her and said, "One of your seams is straight!" Oh so many years later, when Mom was in her 70s...she'd gotten quite heavy...she went on a diet and exercise routine, joined the gym and made a real effort to get trim again, and it worked. She looked great. One day Dad said to her, "Get your skinny little a$$ over here." Now some might not take that as a compliment, but Mom was absolutely delighted and couldn't wait to tell me!

I agree that other platforms are being utilized more. I miss the hey day of GW, when you could spend hours just keeping up with threads that caught your interest. I still think there is no forum for gardening info (and comraderie) like GW I have to say I have some prolonged periods (like one just now since about January) where I just don't have time to post. Life is crazy with twin 3-year-old granddaughters that I watch about 20-25 hours a week, working full time, and other life responsibilities, so I often check GW at night, and just don't have energy or time to respond. I know myself, know I will type out a novel instead of a quick response lol, so I say, oh, I'll come back tomorrow and respond. Well two or three weeks of doing that later, lol, and it's kinda late to respond! Then after a month or two I get back into the swing of posting. Now that it's gardening season (or will be when Mother Nature realizes it's supposed to be spring!) hopefully we will see an uptick in posting. But I am so grateful that many of you are still here, so I can come back every so often and join in - I think rouge is single-handedly keeping things fresh with all their threads, so thank rouge! And I am also very happy to hear that Ken is still kicking too! :) Dee
