Marvin Window Size Pricing

I got a quote for a rough opening 73" x 47 5/8 double casement clad window for $1345 and rough opening 72" x 47 5/8 double casement clad window for $1602 and the window dealer told me that's because the 73" size is standard whereas the 72" size is custom so it's more expensive. Is this true? Thanks.

Nevermind, I just found out that this is indeed correct, 73" is standard, while 72" is custom. Oh well.

Can you make the 73" window fit in your application or will the install more than negate any savings by going with a standard size?

Your window and door are two different colors. That seems a bit odd. If you are going to open both panels of the door frequently I would recommend you look at the multi point option on the inactive panel. Inexpensive upgrade. Lastly, I like the Ultimate screen much more than the Standard (again not much of an upcharge). Prices are reasonable.

Alarm bells rang when I read you will be purchasing the windows. Who will be providing to the window seller the measurements and other specifications? I am surprised your contractor is OK with this arrangement. Doesn't he have a relationship with a lumberyard--preferably Marvin-certified? And if he doesn't, why not? If you are set on Marvin windows, you should find a contractor who actively sells them. My contractor sent me to his preferred lumberyard so I could pick out which of the Marvin lines I wanted and see and touch them live with their pros and cons. The person helping me there said several times that my contractor would be providing the specs, and they'd arrange delivery with him. If your contractor's price is higher than you'd like, get bids from other contractors, and/or look at other less expensive brands. You can go on Marvin's website and see a list of suppliers in your location. But they will expect to work with your contractor. Even if they will sell to you directly, I don't even see how you can save money that way. Any Marvin supplier will not be able to charge you a contractor price.

I also looked into marvin integrity but the air ratings and structural ratings seem to be subpar especially when compared to the higher quality vinyl names. i recently viewed the Okna 600 window and the Soft Lite imperial Ls window. to me, you get much better value and much better return on investment with these 2 brands. Im on the fence as to which brands i am choosing but after seeing what seemed to be a million windows, i have at least narrowed it down to these 2.

Thanks for your comments. The supplier is a very nice person and has been super helpful. But when Marvin does not care or help, what can he do? Marvin regional manager called after I responded to his email, but the call was simply to say that they did not have an ETA. If I were Marvin, I would dedicate a good part of my resources to cleaning up the mess (I know I am not the only one in this situation). Let me give you an example. My entry door had a problem. 1) They called the next day after I reported the issue (as opposed to Marvin that did not even send an email for a few MONTHS). They said they needed 3 months to replace the double door. 2) They delivered the doors in two months; one month earlier than the original ETA. Think about Marvin which brought me two incorrect, irrelevant, and borken (!) parts, SIX MONTHS after the original install. As I said above, Marvin delivered some random parts which had nothing to do with my order six months after installation. Even then, the part that they brought had a dent and their own technician threw it in the trash. They had not even checked the part before sending it out. No QA whatsoever.

Marvin has 11,000 standard sizes...I would hope you can find one to fit. You will love the Marvin windows!

I believe the original poster of this thread has long since resolved his question but I am curious tonight so here goes :).

What is the farming material?
What is the spacer used between the glass?
Thickness of your glass?
Air space width?
What sort of on-glass coating does it have?
What is the cladding material?
What sort of protective coating is on the cladding?
How thick is the cladding?
Can you share the insulation ratings of the windows?
Do you know of any standards (international and US) met by these windows?
What sort of options does it have? Custom sizing and assembly?
What sort of color does it offer? How are the colors applied?
Is it certified to use in the US?
Where is it manufactured?
DOes it have wood?
What kind of wood?
What chemical is used in the wood?
Do you have the MSDS for the chemical in the wood?
Is it solid wood?
How are the wood pieces attached? Stapled?
How are the cladding attached to the wood?
What is your warranty?
Do you have US service centers to provide warranty service?
Do you have English speaking call-centers in US to handle customer service calls?
Do you have US regional distributors and local dealers?

Why not post a URL so we can do our own research?

I just wish Window-Zhang would quit spamming this site. It's really gotten annoying.

But in the spirit of Zhangs spamming:

"Oh my gold, it's so expensive, if me, we will quote $765 for same window".

Hah, beat that price Zhang!
