Stained Glass & Mosaics

Met a woman today that said she's been working with stained glass since the 80's. I had to mask my enthusiasm for meeting her for fear of scaring her away! I was calm and posed myself as someone who was happy to meet her and enjoyed talking with her, but inside I was like a puppy meeting another puppy...ya know, really wanted to "talk shop" and stuff. Am I a nerd or what??? lol

On another note, I've been playing with this grout color called Sandstone to the point where I don't really like it anymore. I had to order it twice, once for a friend and the second for myself. My husband, now tired of picking it up for me, decided to order TWO, HUGE boxes of the stuff for me. Ain't that sweet...'cept for the fact that I wish is was a completely different color now! Poor guy, he tries hard and I'm really hard figure out. (btw, I didn't say anything about the color to him...was just thankful for his thoughtfulness...it was funny though)

oh, I forgot the best part! That lady said she's moving soon and wants to get rid of a bunch of scrap glass. She said if my husband will come pick it up, I can have it all! woo hooooo

Great find..getting all that scrap glass..I understand completely about having to reign yourself in when all you wanted really wanted to do is go home with her RIGHT NOW and learn all there is to learn!!!!

I have used sand colored grout and colored it black when I ran out of black grout. I swear I could not tell the difference after I colored it. My DH couldnt either. I have two bags of the stuff so I have been trying to use it up!!!!

Actually, I love the wrapping paper! Thanks for including that photo. Plus I love little bowls - I have lots of them (mostly Japanese) and use them all the time. Patsy's reminds me of Ab Fab, but that was last decade. I went to an Italian restaurant in Palm Springs that FS used to go to, and the food there was great. I think it was called Capra's, after the owner's father, Frank Capra. Anyway, it reminded me of Brooklyn and my San Francisco Sicilian roommate from Queens. I look forward to seeing some recipes!! Strait, I bought miracle blur the other day and the same thing happens to me. The first time I used it I put it on top of Lancôme Absolue cream. The pilling was awful. The next day I tried it over a moisturizer by Olay. It didn't pill nearly as much but it still annoyed me. It probably took five minutes of inspecting my face and brushing the pills away with a make up sponge. I think the pilling is caused by a reaction of the two products. I was surprised at how small the tube is and how difficult it is to coax the product out. I wonder if mine is old? It comes out as a thick glob when I squeeze hard enough to get a smidgen out. I think I am going to write to L'Oreal and ask for a refund.

New Fridge: LG or GE or something else?

I had an LG refrigerator in my last house. It worked great and I never had any issues with it. I did replace the seal around the bottom freezer door once. It was about 9 years old when we sold it with our house. I would have taken it with my if it would have fit into the design of the new kitchen. I purchased a new LG for this house and we've been using it for a few weeks. It's a large, counter depth model with a water and ice dispenser in the door. I wasn't interested in the water/ice dispenser as I knew it would take up already valuable space in the refrigerator, but my family really wanted it. It certainly doesn't hold as much as my old model and I haven't been able to keep it as organized as I did the older model. But, I believe these are standard issues with all counter depth models. I didn't even consider a GE as the quality of these refrigerators has really gone down hill since GE has been trying to sold the appliance business.

That discription of "like a puppy meeting another puppy" just cracked me up!!

Hopefully she's not moving too far away. If she's been glassin' since the 80's I bet you'll get a good haul on the scrap glass.

Great score !! I never thought of someone being that happy to get advice !! LOL ..... People are asking me how to do stuff all the time and I'm happy to tell them. I didn't know it was so appreciated !!
