I am laughing because I thought BB was supposed to be a foundation. Had no idea that it's a primer. I recently discovered Dr Jart BB cream and have been using it as a foundation. I thought I was looking okay, but I guess I might look a lot better if I used foundation over it?

Maybe it depends on your skin and your BB. Mine looks pretty good with just the BB, but it isn't a tinted one. I might try the green one for when my rosacea flares up.

Well call me crazy Sueb! I tried BB cream and I didn't even realize what the BB stands for (blemish balm - which is not something I need LOL). I used it as all all-in-one - aging defense, sunscreen and foundation. I was not aware some use it as a primer. I think that would be too much for me. I don't even use the BB anymore. I always go back to my mineral make-up.BB explanation

Thanks for the link. Maybe I'll try a tinted BB this summer, or just add a dab of my makeup to my dab of BB. I won't give up my separate moisturizer though. I should check how much sunscreen my BB has...oops, it has none!

Mine is tinted. It's very similar to Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer, which was my previous "foundation," but the BB cream has a higher SPF (along with other supposed benefits).

I know I should, but I don't put sunscreen on my face daily because I find it, oh, not light-feeling enough. Is the BB sunscreen light-feeling? Or should I keep exploring sunscreens?

I love Loreal Miracle Blur, and havent tried a BB cream. This thread is making me think I should. Has anyone tried Miracle Blur and BB Cream, that can compare the two?

I love it, use it every day! I recommend the Tarte BB's, they are so nice. Light, sunscreen, and some coverage, but don't feel gross like foundation. Sometimes I use a little concealer with it, sometimes a little powder foundation, usually a touch of mattifying powder over it. Depends how my skin is doing. They're a great invention! So nice to have it all in one.

I didn't know BB was for blemish balm either! I like it more now! (although I don't struggle with blemishes as often as I used to. ) I use it occ-- will use it more again with the summer coming for it's spf... I do not care for liquid foundation and thought bb might give alittle coverage with some moisturizing benefits. the tinted is very little coverage, so blends very well- I usually use alittle powder over it and I think it does even up my skin tone...

I thought BB stood for Beauty Balm! Tina, my dad has had the same thing a could of times (played a lot of golf, no sunscreen, occasional cap) Off to get BB with sunscreen! I do like my Neutrogena sunscreen stick that looks Iike an antiperspirant stick; I keep it by the garage door and apply it to the backs of my hands before I get in the car.

bpath - I am lucky. This is the most curable skin cancer. I am lucky to live in an area that has 3 MOHS surgeons - and the I got has to be the best. I absolutely love him! What I do not love are the needles (shots) in my nose!!! Thankfully, I do not have alot of spots/wrinkles, etc. (YET) from the sun. I am fair and they say once you have it on your nose, your chances greatly increase to have more than one area. Guess I am paying for past sins LOL. Good for you on the hands - another area that really ages us.

Have they changed what BB means? When I looked up BB and CC before (because I couldn't keep them straight for the life of me), BB was Beauty Balm and CC was Color Corrective/Corrector. Both were a light foundation/moisturizer/sunscreen and could contain anti-aging ingredients but BB was more of a primer and for dry skin and CC was more of a skin brightener with added collagens and other ingredients and more geared for those needing a concealer or with breakouts or acne. I'm sure various companies have added to the ingredients by now to sell their products. I'm sticking with my spf-45 Revision tinted moisturizer and don't need another layer to add. I've used it for several years now and love it.

Yes, the sunscreen is an important thing, and BB is the only way I've found it tolerable to wear on my face. I am another who has had skin cancers removed-- three basal cell carcinomas, one squamous cell, all from my back. They left significant scars, and I'm very scared of the thought of having one on my face. I go to the dermatologist for checks every six months.

I googled it and BB can mean many different things. Beauty balm, beauty butter, blemish balm. Geesh, how are we supposed to know what is what? I didn't realize it but there is also a DD cream. I saw it on Fashionista but my computer instantly locked up when I went to the site.

Ha ha, I think we can imagine what the site was. Your computer is looking out for your sensibilities!

I saw that too holly-kay!! DD cream! Actually it's a new term somebody invented...Dynamic Do-all cream. We must have looked at the same site. I didn't want to throw everybody totally off course, but this sounds like a hybrid of BB/CC cream. Just so you're not confused enough.

Oh boy. Clearly I have been missing out! I currently use Chanel's Luminiere Velvet Smooth Effect foundation which really seems to even out my skin tones and has a soft matte finish .. but my skin is aging and I suspect I will need more soon. I will check out one of these BBs. Thanks for all the reviews!

I realize that I tend not to keep up on makeup/skin care trends. I DO wear makeup (pretty much whenever I go out of the house-- though obviously much more basic when going to the store or similar). My nieces could live at ulta and sephora and a few of them get the boxes delivered each month with new products. I don't read the blogs.. and it took days for me to even open this thread. I suspect I am missing out on some great products but i do tend to keep it simple.. basically one brand.. one range of colors. Am I missing out? Probably.. but i just don't see investing a lot of time on my makeup (selection or application). 1-2 times a year I'll go park at the chanel counter for 45-60 minutes and purchase all that i need and want. This will be my first venture beyond chanel in many years.. wish me luck out there LOL. I'll have to take a niece along for guidance!

Funky I could have written all that - must be our age even though I'm pretty sure you're younger than I am. Makeup hasn't held a lot of fascination for me since I was in my 20's, same with fashion and every few years I get a bug and start fresh with both so if you're going to a makeup counter 2x/year you are way ahead of me. I blame it on being a mother to sons - surely if I had a daughter she would keep me more attuned! I always wear some makeup and love BB cream. Miracle Blur sounds interesting. I'd look so much better if I could go through life being viewed with a slight blur!!!

Funky- I mostly work from home and often do not wear makeup. I do like preparing my face for the day however, and feeling like I look ok is important as I often get pinged for spontaneous video conferences.

I love Miracle Blur because it is just like a blurry screen, it softens the look, blurs the edges and makes me look better. Another product I love is firmaface, by Intelligent Skincare. Its like a zap of tightening to give you instant lift and it lasts hours. Great to make you look and feel younger and great under foundation. When I wear foundation, I too, am Chanel.

Oh.. i think the firmaface sounds like something I need. I think my skin actually looks pretty youthful-- but *I* notice it is looser, less elastic.
I have gone through periods where I work at home for extended periods-- I hate to admit that those days are almost always done in clothing I wouldn't want to reveal in a vid chat!

OK, how do you use the Miracle Blur? I pat it under my eyes to blur the lines, and it pills up into little balls!

I rub a little Miracle Blur over my entire face, on days I a skip wearing any makeup.

Strait, I bought miracle blur the other day and the same thing happens to me. The first time I used it I put it on top of Lancôme Absolue cream. The pilling was awful. The next day I tried it over a moisturizer by Olay. It didn't pill nearly as much but it still annoyed me. It probably took five minutes of inspecting my face and brushing the pills away with a make up sponge. I think the pilling is caused by a reaction of the two products.

I was surprised at how small the tube is and how difficult it is to coax the product out. I wonder if mine is old? It comes out as a thick glob when I squeeze hard enough to get a smidgen out. I think I am going to write to L'Oreal and ask for a refund.

It is very thick, a little goes a long way. I put it on bare skin.

I would guess it might have silicone, like many of the primers. I would have to look it up, but does it contain moisturizer? I was thinking maybe not put it on over a moisturizer. And does it contain sunscreen? If not, and it doesn't work well over another product, that would be a major negative for me.

Yes, it has spf and moisturizer. Since finding this product, I now have more "make-up free" days, which is really nice in the summer.

I think BB's and primers work best on squeaky clean skin (no moisturizer), that is completely dried off after washing. Any moisture or other products tend to make BB's clump up. I do put on eye cream before the BB. Then let the BB dry before applying any more makeup. I usually do my hair, brush my teeth or whatever for a few minutes while it dries.

I have a Laura Mercier primer that I love and it works beautifully with a moisturizer. My skin is so dry that I can't go without that step. I guess Miracle Blur isn't for me as my moisturizer is an absolute must.

Mdln, I bought the MB at Target and it was only $19.99.

ETA: the instructions on the box tell you to put the Miracle Blur on after your regular beauty routine so it seems that it should work over a moisturizer.

I wear miracle blur over my regular moisturizer.

I use my BB over moisturizer, but I wait several minutes (make the bed, get dressed, etc) between them.

@ Holly Kay, yes I stock up when it is on sale. The pic from Loreal website listing the ingredients is the MSRP. Olay with a "touch of foundation" is another one of my favorites.
