Colored vinyl windows - they exist.

I thought this was an interesting; Weathervane windows out of Kent, Washington are producing colored vinyl windows . I purchased Weathervane windows for a 1938 duplex I own and rent because, at the time, they were the only vinyl window that had simulated divided lights. I wanted to have an economical, efficient window and really wanted to keep the look of the 6 over one double hungs, and they did. They've been great windows - and to give them their due - I think they were the first company to do external grids on vinyl windows. So now they've "pushed the limits" perhaps and are providing colored vinyl windows. I'm quite surprised. What do you guys think? Here's the link; click on Design Ideas then Color

Seaway Windows (out of Pennsylvania) has offered colored vinyl windows for a while now. I got my first (of 17) green vinyl windows in 2001 and they are holding up quite well.

All the major manufacturers have color options outside the standard brown, beige and white.

Have you considered fiberglass? I just got Milgard's fiberglass product. I got it in dark brown. You can order a different color inside vs outside. It comes in dark green too. Fiberglass is the most durable material available. Pella and Marvin also offer a fiberglass line.

tonton, the reason is that most vinyl windows are designed to fit inside the "pocket" of a full framed wood window. They cannot accept another window of the same size. Any attempt to attach a smaller vinyl window into an original one will be disastrous. The only exception would be a full framed wood unit that just has vinyl cladding on the exterior. By your description, you have a full vinyl single-hung, and it just cannot be done.

Thanks all! Really wish I remember the paint. I did examine it once and it wasn’t any special off brand kind. It was black paint that was made for exterior applications. They didn’t prime, they had to do several coats and were really exceptional painters though, the kind that don’t use tape and they freehanded everything. It was pretty incredible. Like I said, after a year, some wear showed where leaves or debris had hit the paint and chipped a bit but quick touch ups were easy for me to tackle.

Vinyl window with exterior raised SDL? Does this exist?

SDL’s are great looking for those that appreciate the fine detail. The biggest downside is cleaning the glass and in many cases the upcharge cost as much as the window itself and has extended lead times. I’m a gridless fan regardless if it is inbetween the glass SDL or true divided. There are exception when my opinion varies.

In the north east Harvey has colored vinyl windows,only a ten year warranty on paint though.

Interestingly enough...the "useful" link that you post does not even offer colored windows.
