Comfort World Windows
Comments (16)Hi Truth75, My two cents! We recently purchased windows and did lots of research. You should really do your own research and take what you read from forums very lightly. Many of the people commenting on forums are employees of companies (competitors) and will never have anything of value to offer except to create fear. Use the resources available to you, if you have checked Angies List and such, you will get more honest answers from places like that. Not to mention, the company you speak of is America's largest window replacement company. It did not get there by accident. It installs more windows each year than home depot and lowes combined...so who do you think is more qaulified? Point is, don't be misled by companies bashing other companies....we saw through the baloney and just did our own research by making decisions on facts rather than fake posts! We ultimately chose World of Windows and we have absolutely no regrets!!!! Don't be fooled. Here is a link that might be useful: replacement windows...See MoreWindow World, argon & low-E windows?
Comments (21)earthwormies, Heat enters and leaves thru your windows in three different ways - conduction, radiation, and convection. When dealing with west-facing windows that are cooking you when the sun is shining on them your primary concern is radiation. You need to block the direct solar gain. Solar Heat Gain Coefficient or SHGC represents the percentage of solar heat that is directly passed (radiated) thru your window when the sun is shining directly on it. The lower the number the less direct solar heat gain. In your case you need a very low SHGC number. When the windows arrived they should have had an NFRC tag on the glass that listed the SHGC (as well as U-value and other ratings). Do you still have the tags or did anyone note what the ratings were? Using argon, or krypton, or any other gas between the two lites of glass does nothing to block solar heat gain; you need a low solar heat gain LowE coating to block radiant heat. I am very curious about Window World's claim that they couldn't gas-fill one window because it was too big? How big is that window? Do you know if your windows were manufactured using LowE glass?...See MoreWindow World Windows
Comments (6)What they all said. To be fair, quality windows aren't necessarily cheap, especially for some who just bought a house and sometimes people just can't afford a good window on their budget. Also, the marketing for the cheapo companies make them the easiest windows to obtain for anyone. Ultimately though, it comes down to not being educated in buying windows. Some people tend to just "trust the pro's", and get the opinions of the first installer they talk to....See MoreHow was your experience with Torrance Windows? Steel Alternatives?
