Angelique: There are no rules for spacing fruit trees. Ignore what it says on the label and space them however you need, which goes for all fruits. You ought to see how modern commercial apple orchards cram in the trees, and triple the yields of the old "big tree, large spacing" orchards. I keep three seedling rootstock (standard size) apple trees espaliered and spaced three feet apart, and they are way less trouble to maintain than the mini-dwarf and dwarf trees I have. A Jacaranda branch fell and whacked one of the mini-dwarfs, breaking a couple branches off. It'll be two years until it grows back to normal. The standard would sprout a new branch in no time. I prune the standard trees twice during the summer, which is enough to keep them behaved. Your key to success is summer pruning. Pruning in the winter just perks them up; it's summer pruning that sucks the vigor out of them and keeps them tamed.

Psst....Gina....I also have a light up Martini glass!!! I must have been deprived in another life...because I have lots and lots of wine glasses. My problem is I like to have a dozen, so when I break one or 2 of the dozen, I have to buy another dozen....but theres nothing wrong with 10 matching glasses is there? Oy! I have 10 of one kind of champagne flute and 8 of another and 11 saucer champagnes....and 9 or 10 of one kind of wine and 9 or 10 matching water glasses, and 12 of anothers et of wine and only 11 matching waters and 10 nice blown bordeaux glasses...and another set 8 of rather ordinary wines...and several boxes of the remains of sets of 8 of ordinary wine glasses...in case I should have a large party and need a bunch.... And then we get into the stemmed water glasses that have no wines to match... Some day we can talk about plates.... Linda C

You mention having wine storage in your DR, so how do you envision using this piece and where is it located? If it's in a good spot for a beverage/snack center (e.g. for a party), then I would put the shelf with hanging stemware storage on the wall at the right. Otherwise, I'd store your stemware near your main wine storage. In any case, I'd put a nice big mirror behind it (maybe in a nice frame to match the wood) and hang a pendant above it. I'd keep the top open for serving snacks and an ice bucket (if that's what it will be used for). Or display some favorite pictures on it, but I'd still trade the lamp for a pendant or maybe a pair of wall sconces on either side of a mirror. If it's not really needed for wine storage / serving beverages and snacks, then there is nothing wrong with using it for something else. For example, it would look nice with colorful, rolled up placemats, napkins and towels where the wine bottles go. But that all depends on where it is located and how you plan to use it.

FWIW if the heat generated by the two wine coolers will be dumped into the wine cellar, you should be mindful of the temperature in the cellar without the heat, because it will increase when the coolers are running. For proper wine storage, the ideal temperature range is 55-60F, but as long as your cellar temps remains at or below 65 and don't fluctuate too much. If temps will climb above 70F, you may want to rethink your storage plans, or get a wine cooling unit to maintain cool, constant temperatures.
