Please don't take this the wrong way, but here is another very strong vote for having a caterer do this for you, even if it means much less expensive refreshments. It sounds like you don't have a whole lot of cooking experience (you wrote, "I don't know how to prepare anything"). With all respect, a wedding reception for 120 is NOT the time to learn -- even if it weren't your own daughter's wedding. This would be a daunting job even for those with lots of cooking and entertaining experience. I think even -- perhaps especially -- the most experienced would be inclined to get a caterer for a group this large, especially as mother of the bride. You will have so many other things you'll have to attend to, and even more than that that you don't want to miss. Do you really want to be refreshing the buffet when your daughter and son-in-law are having their first dance? If I were in your position, I would call a few caterers, tell them your budget -- and tell them it's FIRM -- and ask what they can do for that money. You may be very pleasantly surprised. If it's still out of range, consider ordering platters from a food store or inexpensive restaurant, and perhaps hiring a few servers/cleaners. You can supplement the latter and probably even the caterer option with some dishes you or friends and relatives make ahead and have the caterer serve along with his/her food. Your peace of mind, not having to worry about this in the months leading up to the wedding, is really important, too, along with being able to enjoy your guests on the big day. To me, that is worth some money. So if I were in your position, I'd cut way back on everything else if necessary: liquor (certainly a fountain is unnecessary), decorations, types of food, prom-y stuff like limos and favors, and even fancy wedding clothes if necessary. Being able to be a relaxed hostess who can enjoy her guests is more important, in my opinion, than fancy arrangements. Everyone is different, but that's just my experience. @benje that door in LR will not be there anymore we are moving the front door to the left of the LR and it opens into a hallway. You won't be able to see straight to the back of the house then. I don't like that either. I am doing a prep sink in the island I agree that it will be used a ton as well. @mama I love everything you are doing! The fridge/freezer is 79" with the trim kit so will it still be ok at the top wall? I don't love the idea of a range bc if their are 2 of us cooking usually 1 of us is using the stove and it becomes a PIA to keep moving. I really like the snack/coffee station with the uv fridge. I also like the shallow pantry on your plans I don't see any hanging cabinets I don't see any room for them but that is ok to me I'm only 5 ft and can't reach them now I could only imagine how much shorter I will be in the years to come. Ohhh and I love the first hutch. Your starting to know me ;) The entrance is to the left of the LR. You are correct. @desert the front door opens to a hallway and to the R is the DR to the L is the mud room and stairs with the hallway to the FR. If that makes sense? I like the idea if pocket doors going from the DR to LR so it gives us some quiet if the kids are watching TV. I do like sliding doors because it brings a lot of light into the house but I'm fine with the single door in the kitchen I will just add a slider in the FR. What is a carries door? I don't need a peninsula and seating at the island. Do you think I could put a pass throug on that peninsula with overhead glass cabinets it would separate the kitchen from the DR. Looking at too many pictures. I like a double sink. Also one in the island. The fridge/freezer is 79" with the trim kit. DH and I were married in a suburb of Chicago over fifty years ago. I've never attended a wedding or reception where gifts were displayed. People didn't bring gifts to weddings. Even a registry was open to question because it could be viewed as an expectation of gifts. The invitee was simply being asked to honor the couple by witnessing a ceremony and celebrating with them. Gifts of cash were considered impersonal. This protocol, of course, resulted in newlyweds making many trips to multiple stores to return duplicates and gifts they would never use. We did have a registry, but still had many returns, resulting in...cash. LOL Gifts *are* brought to bridal showers, where they are opened in public. The invitation to a wedding (and reception) is usually extended by the family of the bride or by the couple. An RSVP goes to the parents or the couple. Gifts are sent ahead of the wedding to the bride or the couple. Thank you notes are expected ASAP, although Emily Post gave newlyweds up to a year. If the wedding is cancelled, all gifts are to be returned immediately. Gift-wrapping exists because you are giving *A Gift*! All this formality is in support of what is presumed to be a binding, once-in-a-lifetime commitment.

Also, newer construction materials are not good for absorbing sound. I've been to some concerts at new venues where the literature bragged up on how fantastically engineered it was for acoustics. Heck no. They must have had a good salesman though . . . the ways of the modern world . . . They were designed for a certain aesthetic and then they thought they could jimmy-rig engineer good acoustics by duct taping acoustical tiles here and there. No. (not literally). We had the same problem at our wedding. The acoustics in the room were terrible, (it was a camp dining hall) and folks wanted to talk, so we had to keep turning the music up for dancing and down for talking . . . we didn't utilize the five hour mix tape hubs made anywhere near to its potential . . .
