did everyone miss me?

hey, i know i haven't been here in about three months but everything has been so hectic this summer that i have barely had time to breathe....but i'm back and i need everyone's help once again....

we have about a hundred guests comming in september for our wedding and we have nowhere to put them. most of my family lives within driving distance but all of his family is flying down for the wedding. we live in a small town and there aren't many hotels around. we do have a nice resort nearby but it costs about two hundred dollars a night to stay there so i don't think that anyone has the money for that. there was a new hotel recently built in the next town over and i think it looks nice (i haven't been there to check it out yet) but my fiance dosen't agree with me and thinks that we should find some other place for them to stay.... i'm trying to be patient with him and compromise but things are getting difficult. i think we should just go ahead and book a block of rooms at the new hotel but he thinks we should keep looking and i know we're not going to find anything else that's affordable.....any ideas?

Yes. Put him in charge of making the reservations. Then let him handle that while you move on to something else.

Bingo.

You might reserve the rooms at the new hotel in the meantime while he is looking, just in case. You don't have to lie to him about it; just point out that you made sure you can cancel them and will do so just as soon as he finds something better.
Did you mean you have 100 guests total, or 100 who will need hotel rooms?

so you can't come to the raleigh spring swap? that's really too bad. i can't imagine not being able to check gw- i'd have the green shakes for sure! glad the water plants are still hanging tough for you. i still have 3 of the 4 koi you brought me. the pure yellow one had a spine defect and dissappeared after about 6 months. the others are doing well & getting bigger. my pond pump died late last summer and i still haven't replaced it, so the ponds are pretty yucky looking right now (as if they look great most winters anyhow), but am ready to get to cleaning & getting it running again. didn't seem to bother the fish, though- i don't think i lost any over the winter. hope your situation changes for the better soon. take care & keep in touch! tammy

Hey Mitzi! Is spring coming up soon? Summer is almost over here. Lesly - The hoya bug is easy to get bitten by, so sometimes it is easy to over whelm oneself. Especially in the winter without a greenhouse. The hoyas that make it through every winter inside I consider the tough bunch and I am happy to grow those. Isn't Joni awesome? Mary - nice to meet you as well and best of luck growing. You seemed to amass a great collection. Susan - I've just kind of been hunkering down with all the cuttings I acquired. As we all know some grow almost immediatelly and some just sit there for a season or two. I recently was able to make cuttings to fill out a lot of pots that just had that single vine going straight up a bamboo shoot. I also lost about a half a dozen in a 'derecho' that we had a couple months past, I hope you didn't get much Susan. Mike - I thought Obscura smelled like a fruitier version of Lacunosa. Not quite Fruit Loops but close. Do you know if all Subcalva are scented like grapes or if it is only a specific variety or IML #? -David

Thank you everyone, I’ve definitely missed all of you too, and am glad to be back. Yes, I had a lovely Christmas, Diane. I won’t list all the roses I’m getting, but some of the highlights that I’m excited about are a couple of Kordes Floribundas from Palatine, Bliss Parfuma and Solero Vigorosa, I noticed they had Augusta Luise, but it sold out quickly, such a beautiful rose, and I always think of you, Diane when I see it mentioned. I’m also trying a couple of their Old Garden Roses, Variegata di Bologna and Yolande d’Aragon. And I also ordered Stephens’ Big Purple. I had that one in 2017, and loved it, hopefully on Multiflora it will be hardier. Since I’m so fond of lavender roses, I ordered a Griffith Buck rose, Silver Shadows from Heirloom and Blue Girl from Witherspoon, I am also trying Peter Mayle, another rose I’ve read good things about. Beverly is such a good rose for me that I am getting another one, also another Pope John Paul Ii, and wish I had gotten another Francis Meilland. The one I planted in 2017 really did good in 2018, and I love the blooms on that one!

we need one hundred who will need rooms but that includes children...husbands, wives, etc... so we only need to reserve about thirty rooms...

I recommend putting him in charge of finding the rooms - it is his family and he didn't think that your solution would work for the guests. I would definitely tell him that you will book the new hotel "just in case". Hopefully, he will find something that suits him, if not you have the back up.
