A dumb blond question about bluebonnets
Comments (7)I can only tell you my own experience with blue bonnets. We live in central texas, rocky, dry, etc. I planted the seeds in November, as recommended, only one time. In subsequent years I've had b.b. blooming from January through June. Take into consideration I have a strange back yard. The part nearest the house is the lower level. About 20 feet out from the house there is an upper level about 6 feet taller. There is a privacy fence around the whole thing. So, I think I just have different micro climates and they bloom sort of willy nilly. All of these areas, but particularly the lower level, are protected from the north winter wind. Sounds like that may be the case with you - having a bayou wall. Are you in southeast texas? I grew up down there but don't ever recall seeing blue bonnets. Seems like they prefer drier conditions, but it's been a while. I really don't think planting at different times will make a difference, but it can't hurt to try. The issue is sewing the seed when ground temps are correct. There is some growing info at the link below that may help you. Comments (9)Just painted a large canvas (28x32?) with Ivorie. Looks like a beautiful creamy yellow in my LR- walnut floors, cherry and dark toned furniture, red accents. I brought the SAME canvas into my kitchen- natural/honey toned cabinets and the color reads a little green :( Unfortunately its my kitchen that needs to be painted. I will remember the color for when I want to redo the LR....See MoreSW Blonde too bright in well lit room?
Comments (1)We have SW Blonde in the majority of our rooms. Our great room flows into the dining room, separated by a brick archway. The dining room has large windows facing the side and back yards (we put plantation shutters on them, but I keep them open most of the time.) The Blonde works great for us, definitely not too bright, more of a neutral. Our two love seats are also a brownish/olive color and it works well....See Morecolor close to SW Blonde but...
Comments (41)Bonniee, thank you for the link, Rays looks like a great place to shop for bedding....wish they were in FL:) Was there a brand name to your bedding? I would be interested in looking at a brand name website to check dimensions of their bedding. We just bought a new mattress set and my old comforter is not long enough....it needs to be at least a few more inches to make it nicely past the top edge of the box spring. These new mattresses so tall....its crazy. I hate to go custom, but most of the stores carry comforters that are made to fit standard size or the older size mattress depths. So buying something in a department store has not worked out for me. At least I am back to a standard size bedskirt. Our last mattress set we bought 10 years ago, had a 9 inch box spring, the bedskirt had to be custom. Now my box spring is normal and the mattress is too tall. A friend suggested a duvet, but I am not sure if that would be longer on the sides to cover the mattress. Thanks again for the link, I might call them to see if they can email me some pictures of any thing they have that might fit....See Morepattiem93
