Pieces from Dichro Dazzlers (fusing) class

I mentioned earlier that I was taking a mini fusing class this past Saturday. This was only a 3 hour class, so didn't get too in depth. Mom took the class with me for fun. I just picked up the fired pieces today, here's some pics. The pictures don't really show all of the sparkle from the dichroic. Dicro is difficult to photograph well.

Oh forgot to mention I've got more stuff cooking in the kiln right now. I can't open the kiln until late tonight or early tomorrow for pics. It's always a surprise to see how they come out!

I am so happy to see your pictures again! I was here back then, but mostly lurking, which I still do a lot because I am not very good about id-ing my plants since the dogs destroyed my labels and I gave up There are a few I know the names of, but not too many. Thanks Teresa. I've doing Sail Away, and I added the island, boat, and sun last night. I ended up hand embroidering the rays, since I didn't like the way it came out by machine. I removed the tear away stabilizer, but ripped out a few of the wave stitches while doing it! I found a border fabric and possibly binding (or will do pillow case method). It's looking good. No, not all mine. My projects were: second image on second row - except cuz of a screw up on the red enameled heart it turned into the third image on last row. Also made the second image on third row. These are pendants. Haven't finished my ordering lists of supplies, and since I feel so guilty about working w/o housecleaning, I haven't gone to the workshop since I returned. It was the best trip since the one in 2007 - Riana's concrete sculptures. Had this class not filled, I was going just to hang out w/her and mosaic the things she made last year. I enjoyed the workshop so much I didn't take time out to work on those projects. Thanks, FLAG.

Fusing Glass - which kiln? which glass?

Oh Hi! I actually just started fusing a few weeks ago. I LOVE it! I am having a total blast cooking glass in my garage. As for Kiln choices, there are many. It depends on a lot of things such as your budget, the size of pieces you want to make, whether you can install a 240 volt line or are restricted to 110 only. I went with a little bit larger 240 one. I highly recommend a digital controller. Preprogrammed or not doesn't really matter. The included schedules may be a place to start, but you're going to want to tweak them. As far as glass goes, some people buy & use both, but then you must be very careful to keep them separated and well labeled so you don't accidentally mix them. I only use Bullseye so far. There's about 5 times the selection of Bullseye at my local shop than there is of Spectrum 96. Still they don't have that much so I wind up buying a lot of my supplies online. I started with the Bullseye Studio Fusers pack which has a variety of sheet, stringers, frits & confetti. If you haven't already, I highly recommend you check out www.warmglass.com. They have a nice tutorial and a good message board there. If you can find any local classes I'd suggest that too. Please remember I'm no expert, I'm new at this too! Good luck! Virginia Virginia

So far I've only bought dichro scrap. It's perfect for making small jewelry pieces like this & it's a little cheaper.

Oh YES lots of fun! Here's the stuff I cooked yesterday. The ones on the top row with the silver links embedded in them are going to be a bracelet.

OHGOODGRIEF! Wish I hadn't looked at this. I WANT A KILN, waaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh, whiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnneeeeeeeeee. So beautiful. Boy, looks like you've been doing this forever. Lovely work, and I can juuuuust imagine how beautiful it is in person.

Haha Slow, sorry! Thanks, I'm pretty happy with how they're turning out. I'm almost afraid to type this out loud, but my dream is to actually sell a few pieces. Yes, the sparkle of the dichroic is much better in person. I've got to let my hubby try to take some better pics. He's the photographer in the family.
Now I want to try some larger projects.

BEEEEEE UTIFUL!!!!! I'm so in love with those pendants, only I don't want to wear em, I want to glue and grout em!!!!

Ha NT! That would be some expensive tesserae! Maybe one as an accent or something.
