I love it! They really pull the whole area together, and make a great, elegant space. I may have to check those out in red for my breakfast area. :)

Your whole kitchen area is one of my favorites here. I love the new curtains and sign. That finished it off. I hope they get the fabric in by yard because it would look smashing on the shades.

It amazing what curtains ( and a great eye, I might add ) can do to a room. It looks great. Love your space! The curtains look wonderful, and the tavern sign is killer!

You know, you could also add a small beaded trim around your shades to dress them up, or maybe a wide grosgrain ribbon around the bottom? Glue guns are wonderful inventions.

Ooohh OOOOHH, what jbrig said! I made pillows for my Grammy's couch with extra curtain panels she had. Worked out great!

Could you tell me the details about the large window? What are the dimensions of each of the glass sections, and how wide is the wood pieces between them? What are the overall dimensions, and how close to the floor is it?

I love that new print! I need to go into the store, I've only seen it in the catalog but have been eyeing the blue for one of our bedrooms.

I agree with buying a runner or panel. Check the catalog or online to make sure they don't have shades.

Love the new panels - very pretty fabric, and such a warm addition to the room!

Wondering if they are pleated? If not, consider pressing them out more, for a softer fold in the fabric.

As for the lampshades, I am going to be the oddball here. I wouldnÂt put the same fabric on the shades - too matchy. I would instead look for a stripe or plaid that has the color of the walls and the color of the panels in it, and perhaps a touch of black.

Awww, thanks! Caroline, the window is 104" from outside trim to outside trim. The narrow windows on either side are 18.5" and the large trim piece is 8.25". The large picture window is 46.5". Height from trom to trim is 67".
Scooby, I hung them on the hooks. They have changed their hooks. They have a fatter flat metal tab to them now that slips into the thread on the back. Also, another bigger change was the newer plastic wall anchor. It is really big! The directions said to screw that into the drywall. No drilling required! The screw goes into that as usual. I was skeptical about not drilling, but it worked well! Those buggers were in their tight. Better than I had done in the past with a drill!
Jan, the rooster I got years ago from Homegoods. I did see the rooster at PB though and it is very nice! The Tavern sign I bought at The Country Living Fair last year.
Les, with the good eye as always! No pleats, but I did hang them before ironing. So yes a good pressing will bring them to life a bit more. Just wanted to get the rod hung so when I press them I can hang them immediately. I will keep your suggestion for the shades in mind. Good to have an alternative in mind. Originally I was thinking a small check. Ballards does have checks, but not in any color I can use except black. With the black chairs, chandelier and sign, I'm afraid of it being too much.
Shee, you spied right! It is a care bear hanging from the light! My son's friend hung it there last winter! It stayed! I could be really tacky and get the collection and hang them all, lol! Leaving it there reminds me to not take things so seriously. I sometimes forget its there!

I'm with Les, the drapes are nice but you don't want to match the shades to it. Go for complementary or coordinated, not matchy/matchy.

I agree not to over coordinate! Looks awesome - maybe some nice textured linen or burlap shades to add some texture...what is your wall color???...Ive seen this kitchen before. Do you live in VA??? - crazy but my children made the same wreath from hands thing. Would love to see more of your decorating.

I have thought of burlap and I've seen cork too. I guess when I see it I'll know it..like with the drapes!
