anyone used marvin double hung replacement sash kit or brosco's

gingerbreadhouse

I live in an 1843 gothic revival farmhouse in NJ that I have spent the last 13 years restoring. I have agonized over what to do with the windows for years. After an attempt at restoring them, I am left with the sad conclusion that the wood on the sash after the good 150-year-fight is just too rotted to deal with anymore. (The window frames are fine, though)

I am looking for the best, most authentic double-hung, simulated-divided light (preferably with spacer bars), all-wood replacement sash kits I can find.

I have 20 windows in the house, most are six over six.

I have narrowed it down to Marvin's tilt pac or Brosco's

double-hung sash kit.

Has anyone had good or bad experiences with either of them?

Are the inserted spacer bars worth the price (almost $200 a window)?

Any other advice?

(I love gardenweb forum! It guided me through a successful bathroom rennovation this summer!)
