Maybe times are slow up there and they are trying to buy the business a bit but their loss is your gain in this case.

If the company is solid and the install specifics are correct, that is a smoking deal.

It does give me pause, but vet the details and maybe you are lucking out.

That is very cheap, almost too cheap. Get a second opinion.. Google an Okna dealer in your state.. Okna windows NY or OKna windows Nj if you are close to jersey.

I called okna and they gave me this dealer and only this dealer.

He said they are very slow now and that's why it's cheap.

He also said it would take 1 day to do all 8 windows plus a patio door. I'm used to contractors underestimating times but have never done windows. Is that reasonable (for a good installation?). I'm in an apartment building so I assume it'll be done from inside.

I asked about insulation ( spray foam ) in the walls and cavities where the old weight for the original windows were and he said they don't do that ( or put in any insulation)

That is an incredibly low price. When a company starts to practically give windows away to keep business flowing, it's usually not a good sign. You can't do that for too long and stay in business.

Personally, I would stay away from a company that says they don't insulate around the perimeter of the windows. If they said your particular situation doesn't call for it, maybe; but if that's their standard operating procedure, find someone else.

Like mmarse1 suggested, maybe reach out to the NJ Okna dealer and see what he says.

Numbers are still really low looking.

Not insulating the window weight boxes are a bit of red flag to me as well.

Where are you located? You never know, google may pick up another dealer that okna never mentioned. This whole thing sounds strange.
Are your windows white on the outside or brown?

I'd figure low to mid $400's per window? That is VERY low for that product, definitely at the threshold where it is valid to ask questions. Could possibly just be a company with very low overhead that is running a big discount... or it could be more worrisome if they are trying to "buy" business. By "buying" business, that means that after expenses and overhead costs they are breaking even or losing money. Very valid possibility at that price. As recommended by WoW above, I'd definitely do some additional vetting if you want to move further along.

I have what I think is the opposite problem up on the MA/NH border. I have a quote for 16 double hung Okna 500s with the deluxe glass package with a u-value of 0.25 that has come in at $609 per. Maybe I'm getting my prices mixed up, but I was expecting something in the $500-$550 range per, but maybe that was the base model with a u-value of 0.28.

Has the cost of vinyl gone up or has Okna raised their prices a touch since switching the 500 to the Himark brand? I'm also looking at Soft-lite Imperial LS double-pane with super space with a u-value of 0.27 that have come in at $600 per. Does that seem outrageous?

Also, I'd like to thank both HomeSealed and WoW as I've found your posts throughout this board to by the most helpful and informative. I was going to go with a Harvey window at first but after reading your posts and doing some research I'm now between Okna 500s and the Soft-lite Imperials LS. I wish either of you were in my area for all the work I need done on my "new" house built in 1970.

That price is well within range for the okna.

+1. That pricing is right in the mid range on both of those products. I've seen the 500 sell for over $1000 with depending on options and install. If you get a price in the $500's that is a GREAT deal. Theses prices are for a reputable, established company doing a quality install. Pricing can very depending on size and business model of the individual dealer.
