Trash To Treasure

Snowman Jars

Some of these jars we dug up at my grandparents house in town. They're old medicine jars. The largest with the feather wings is a Starbucks coffee drink. Just need some jars, some styrofoam balls and some beads or buttons and trims. My grandson even made one for his teacher. (he's 5)

Check them out on my blog :D

They came out cute!! Grandson looks so proud with his tree!! Hope you get meds straightened out soon!! I saw a beaded candycane in Dec. Better HOmes & Gardens Really easy, just cut a piece of 24 gauge wire 10 in. long & put 1 color e beads on (I folded it in half, when that half is full I made little loop so they wouldn't fall off& then put second color on the other wire (half) when it is full you would need to take it from grandson & twist the 2 ends of wire together & make a nice looking end. That is the end of the curved part. Now take & gently twist to get candycane effect. I'll try & get some pics tomorrow if it isn't so cloudy. I made some real small ones on 28 gauge wire (6in. piece) And they make great pin for your blouse or coat with addition of little gold bow.,put a pinback on it & a wire through it so it wouldn't fall off. Going with GF to get more beads at Michael's & Joanne's in morning!! These are easy & fun. Oh, they didn't have much for directions in the magazine. The little ones are good on a 2 ft high tree (I make most of ornaments for it) the 10 in. wire or even 12 in wire would be more for larger trees. Guess beads could just keep getting bigger(and more expensive)We love the look of the silvered beads in red, green, silver, blue!! It's late bed time! Jan

Thanks Jan!
My daughter said no way was his teacher getting that snowman bottle, she's keeping it for herself,LOL.
The candy cane sounds cute, I'm pretty sure I already have some red and some white beads, but I don't remember what kind. I do need another gift for teacher! I forgot about the Rudolph Reindeer Puzzle Pins, though! And sea shell angel pins...I may not need to make more teacher ones!
My meds...whew....I couldn't wake myself up for more than a couple hours yesterday...it was so awful! I slept for all except about 2 hours!!!!! So far today I've managed to stay awake...I didn't want to be so calm that I'm practically comatose!

Karen, I love it all! You could be my personal shopper! I'd have wanted exactly the same things you picked out! Oh, oh, guess that means we might be in trouble if we ever tried shopping together! LOL What a great buy on that candy jar, it is adorable. The kitty mug is perfect for you, and the little noel sign so cute. You know word plaques are really popular now. Those ornaments are just your colors aren't they? And I love all the gold on them. But the best buy was that table, what a steal of a price for it! And last, but not least, you KNOW that rooster NEEDS to be in a tablescape, right? We'll be waiting. ;o) Luvs

Here's some more of the gag type gifts. Snowman Litter A jar, or whatnot, of Hot cocoa mix with the following directions attached. Since the snowman is a "productive" critter, It helps to have the proper litter. Poop is a thing that should not be kept, Nor something under the rug to be swept. (how inept!) To dispose of the poop you need to consider Using this high tech Snowman Litter. But should you not use the proper mix, You'll undoubtably find yourself in a fix. Tis best done by putting this stuff in a mug Be careful and don't drop poop on the rug. Add poop to the cup, and pour in a slug, Of hot melted snowman right into that mug. The poop disappears (oh hear the wild cheers) Merry Christmas to all and a Very Happy New Year. -------------------------------------------------- SNOWMAN KISSES (mini-marshmallows or other white candy) Snowflakes from Heaven as white as can be! Can build a Snowman for all to see! He's cute and cuddly and full of good wishes! And wants to give you a bunch of his kisses!

Thanks everyone, I'm glad to have that window ledge so I can put them all out together too. My santa collection is smaller, so they get the shelf above the television in the family room--but I didn't put them out this year. DH and I were laughing that they have a nice backdrop since we've recently had several days of rain (it stopped for Christmas eve and Christmas Day, wasn't that considerate?)the mountains north of us now have beautiful snow capped peaks now. Yes, it's nice to see it but not have to shovel it or drive in it! ;o) Luvs
