Every time I've seen this rooster, I wanted it. But he's usually more than I want to pay, and then the shipping as I've only seen him on eBay. But this time the deal was too good to pass up and I got him!!!

GW had a lot of Xmas stuff out already, and announced all was 75% off that day I was there!!! WoooHooo.

The Snowman Cookie Jar cost me $2.50, and the Xmas Kitties cup was 20 cents.

This cute hinged wood sign was just a dollar with the 75% off.

I grabbed up two boxes of these pretty ornaments for 75 cents each.

My SUPER buy at GW. A long desired sofa table, in exactly the style I love. Top has 4 glass panels.

Priced at $40 but it was half off day, so I paid only $20 and was ecstatic !!!

It is my very first Bergenia. The owner of my local nursery recommeded it since he knows I LOVE my shade gardens. It seems it would like a little morning sun then dappled shade for the rest of the day. I have a perfect spot just off the patio to showcase this beauty. It is varigated yellow and gold at maturity and will have bright pink flower tufts in the spring. Mature Size (W/HT/FL HT): 12"/10"/15" And here is the photo from Terra Nova!

1930s would be a comparable age to the dining room set (which you helped me ID when I got it, Linda). But I could see how it could be 1940's... Aunts and uncles had furniture of that era. I was thinking of the possibility of a bedroom set, except for the fact that most of those mirrors are attached to the dressers, aren't they? The shop where I found it had everything very clean. When I got it home, I saw that the only dust was between those curves. I brushed it out, the plywood edges looked a little dry, so I took a thin cloth dampened with Scratch Coat and rubbed it in between. Then put on a new hanging wire, and hung it on the existing nail. Fastest thing I've ever installed. Here's the walnut dining room set, found on Craig's list about 3 years ago. The gold mirror you see above the short buffet in the first shot(taken right after I got the set), which I've had for maybe 20 years, is the one I'm replacing. That's just a fake resin material. If I can't find a place for it in the house (I have so many mirrors), I'll maybe take it to that same resale shop. Glad I hadn't gotten around to painting it before I found this one. I've been redecorating this room off and on since I got the set. Next will be to paint the buffet lamps to match the new chandelier, adding dark gold and dark bronze.

Magpie,I hadn't even thought about using those candleholders for anything other than making a pedestal. However, I have seen them painted up like snowmen or santas--or I could paint a couple acorns on them I guess. I only have red chargers, so these very inexpensive white ones seemed like something fun to "play" with while doing tablescapes. Jay, that's neat that you found a bowl in the same design--these say Gibson on the back. I like your idea of the candy stash! LOL I have used wreaths for centerpieces before like you suggested Lynn and Jane. Not so sure about using this one that way--think the little twiggy parts stick out too far, and the flowers don't go all the way around. Jane, I'm still seeing the picture there, wonder why you couldn't see it????? Jeanne, I don't know which of us is more blessed, me or my new friend! She is amazing and such a good rolemodel for me, she has MS and just fights it tooth and nail--is painting her bathroom and getting ready to hang wallpaper--maybe being around her will get me to stop procrastinating and get something done--if she can do all that, then I sure have no excuse! Karen, I love it all! You could be my personal shopper! I'd have wanted exactly the same things you picked out! Oh, oh, guess that means we might be in trouble if we ever tried shopping together! LOL

What a great buy on that candy jar, it is adorable. The kitty mug is perfect for you, and the little noel sign so cute. You know word plaques are really popular now. Those ornaments are just your colors aren't they? And I love all the gold on them. But the best buy was that table, what a steal of a price for it! And last, but not least, you KNOW that rooster NEEDS to be in a tablescape, right? We'll be waiting. ;o) Luvs

Jim, the table is exactly what I wanted as is. I put it in my living/dining room. Its on the back wall under a mirror. I've put my carousel collection on it, those pieces really needed a place to be displayed. Of course with the Holidays coming, I'll have fun decorating it for a while with different things.

Oh My Karen..you hit the 'Jack Pot'.. Great Deals. Love everything you bought. I can't believe how little for the table as well as all those ornaments. Your table seems to work perfectly w/your collection, and as you said, with the Holidays coming..It will be a great asset in so many ways.

Thanks, DD. Those horses are from the "PJ Carousel Collection" and done identical to real ones. The carousel Whippet was sculpted by a whippet gal, and I couldn't resist it of course. I still want the PJ Carousel Rabbit and hope it hits eBay someday, waaaay too pricey for me on the PJ website.

I am SO looking forward to the Holidays and getting to play with all my stored goodies. I'm sure my Brat Cat feels the same. Tho at least I won't have quite the challenge that Jim will this year. LOL.
