Uppers too heavy? Open shelf end? Too cheesy?

I'm finalizing the last details with my cabinet maker this week. I'm a bit concerned about the 36" run of uppers to the right of my range hood possibly looking too heavy, and also that I don't really have any display space in the kitchen.

Hood is this.

I've come up with a couple of ideas.

I could do 24" of uppers and use the remaining 12" next to the hood to do this. Is this kinda cheesy though?

How about using the open shelving on the end next to the wall and then having the 24" of closed uppers to the hood like this?

Or I could leave the cabinets, but put glass in 1 or maybe 2 doors.

I'm not sure yet of everything I'm going to store in those cabs, but I know that not all of it will be nice enough to show off behind glass so doing all the uppers glass won't work. Ditto with all open shelving. The new windows are already in so they can't be changed now.

So....my questions are:

1. Do the uppers look too heavy or out of place?

2. If so, any suggestions to correct this?

3. Tired of my questions yet? ;)
