Mixing brass fixtures with brushed nickel or chrome

Our existing Jack and Jill has brass/gold fixtures. We don't want to break down the wall of the shower to change them. Eventually, we would like to change everything to brushed nickel or chrome (though DH said gold was making a come back). The shower has white tile with one small row of very soft beige or putty color almost the color of the caulking. We plan to change the gold lighting over the sinks to a brushed nickel or chrome

We want to use the attached Pottery Barn Kids Shower curtain (Animal continents) with a brushed nickel/chrome shower bar. We think the shower curtain will hide the brass fixtures. Then we were thinking of new tile that looks like driftwood. We like the Indus medium grey but worry about it going with the brass fixtures in the sink and door knob. I suppose we would need to make the bathroom yellow, like the yellow in the curtain to lighten up the grey. We were also worried the grey floors would go out of style quickly.

They also have a lighter grey tile which almost is beige but then we were worried that wouldn't look that good with the brushed nickel/chrome when we eventually changed everything. We were thinking that could go with light grey walls but weren't sure.

I can't seem to find a photo of the tiles. Which combo would you recommend? Any other ideas? How awful is it to mix and match to eventually upgrade over a few years?
