I can't remember who sold me polished nickel fixtures for my bath but if it ever comes back to me, they better leave the country fast. A more nightmarish material I can't imagine, except for polished marble, which someone else is going to pay for, too. Staining, fingerprints, watermarks--on chrome, those are just from dirt on the surface, if you even get them. They come off with pretty much anything you feel like cleaning with--water, soap and water, Windex, 409, whatever. Nickel is a "living" (i.e., decaying) finish. Those watermarks are a kind of tarnish. Especially with polished, you have to wipe up each and every time you touch or use it. Then do a thorough polish once a week. Shoot me. I don't think brushed anything is very authentic to the age of your house, though. As far as mixing metals, it depends where they are used. I have a chrome sorta vintage light fixture in the nickel bath, and you really can't tell--it's way up on the ceiling. However, the sink drain pipe is chrome, and it looks fairly ridiculous next to the nickel console legs, which is why I always keep a towel in front of it.

We were initially thinking some sort of white-grey porcelain tile but couldn't find any that had a little texture in them. Most of the tile we saw was more beige than white. We don't like the tile shown in the photo - too small with too many grout lines that could be hard to clean. We want a little texture in the tiles so it is not slippery but not so much that it is hard to clean Thanks

A quick search on Houzz will show lots of pictures with mixed finishes. The first two below have ORB light fixtures and chrome/brushed nickel plumbing fixtures and cabinet hardware. The last picture has chrome plumbing fixtures and ORB light fixtures and cabinet hardware. IMO all these combinations look good. I am typically a "matchy/matchy" person but wanted chrome plumbing fixtures in my house and prefer ORB light fixtures to chrome light fixtures for some reason. So I have spent hours looking at pictures with mixed finishes and reading design blogs/home building forums and have come to the conclusion that there are no "rules" on this and it is really a matter of personal taste.

Well believe or not the fixtures are so $$$ in the brushed Nickle I was shocked. I have oil rub bronze in my perm home With no problems of spots. And I honestly was going for the brushed nickle and somehow this chrome has got my eye since it will have a coastal setting. So I guess I thought I will try the chrome . While I'm crossing my fingers and toes :) faucets / showers have really gone up in price. Those remodeling shows are killing us ! well I picked Kohler Bancroft K-T10577-4-CP. faucet. And K-T10581-4-CP shower head/ tub faucet for one bathroom anyway. I went to take a look at it in person and I really loved it for this bathroom. Master bath. Used Subway tiles in there 4x12. Staggered In between I put a decorative band of 4 x12 black white gray and some white sparkle glass tiles , Thrown in around the tub/ shower area. And around the mirror so I'm hope these chrome figures give some bling. We are on the water. But not ocean. I wish !!!!!!!! Thank you for all the imput truly appreciate it
